Check out the original thread Here.

And now....For the moment you've all been waiting for!

The winner of the Short Story contest is......

OdysseyF22!!!

Your story created such a sense of being there and feeling the feelings that the main character felt. It was quite amazing, I must admit. Great great work...pretty much blew my mind. Congradulations.

*edit* - Here's a link to the story; here

And now...for the winner of the Photo Contest...

Nightshy!!!

Here is her picture:

I love this picture. The child facing the mountains in the distance, it's as if he is about to take on the biggest challenge of his life so far. The fence running between him in the mountains adds that much more symbolism to it. He is so small...yet the mountains are so big. Even then, he is about to set off to conqure them, to explore them, and to see what life has in store.

That's what I see when I look at this picture. Technically wise, it is fantastic as well. Great composition with the child and the mountains on the and the very dramatic sky on the right, and the fence, although not very noticable, helps to bring the image together. The sky looks amazing, and the way it looks dark and forboding over the mountains yet it looks bright and peaceful on the left.

Congrats on a wonderful picture.

I also wanted to give honorable mentions to the following users:

You guys all did a wonderful job on your photo's as well. Thanks for taking part in this contest! I had a great time looking at all the pics (over 20...) and reading the stories.

Both of the winners will recieve a framed 8x10 print of one of my photo's. So, if you two will please email me your addresses that would rock.

Overall, I think this contest was a success. I hope that I was able to bring the younger part of the DPC community a little closer together, as that was the goal of this whole deal. I hope that us younger ones can keep taking great photos and keep improving upon our talents.

I want to leave you with this quote by Anatole France:

"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe."

Yeah, I wondered about putting it here because of it's size. I was tring to think of a place to link it to, but all I have is my sports blog...and it doesn't quite fit in there. ;)

Is freefileupload permanent? If not, I can host it or something.

//no-leverage.nerdnet.org/misc/fog--brentp.html

Here, I made it browser-readable. Uh, it's in the default template that all of my written stuff is, too :o
