This is the second day in a row that I had to wait a few hours to be able to communicate with the DPC server.

All other web sites are fine, and I could get into right away.

However, DPC would not communicate for me twice, and I was just was wondering if DPC was down for a while, or if my computer is doing something weird, of if a conspiracy headed by the Admin. is underway keeping me from getting into this site.

I have been getting on the site just fine

There are some problems going on with the whole hosting server, and it's out of anyone at DPC's hands.

:(

It's just the planned problem D&L have implemented. When they ask for an increase in membership fees, it will be explained it is to prevent these blackouts by using mirrored sites and equipment...

You liar!!! You wouldn't have left a 4.5 hour gap in the forums *g*

On a more serious note, it would be nice to hear a few details, just so we don't feel so totally left out in the cold.

It would be nice if they posted something on the "Site News" column of the home page, explaining what's going on.

They could just put:

"The site is screwed up..........deal with it!!!!"

:)

Give them a little time... they can't get on if we can't...I'm sure there will be some kind of info as soon as it's available and Langdon gets back from vacation (as mk pointed out earlier in the thread).

So there is a problem?

So I should put the sledge hammer down?

So I can start drinking whiskey again instead of pure grain?

This isn't a conspiracy?

I need a hug.

The problem is that they have no known good router to test with. If they would just get one, everything would be fine.

Until then, we suffer. :-{

Of course there is a problem, you haven't noticed it yet? We are all a bunch of loons who happen to have cameras, love to take pictures, but can't agree on challenge interpretations. Need more?

Yeah. First I pouted.
Then I took a nap.
Then I took my camera and went out and took some pictures.
Then I erased the pictures.
Then I checked again, and DPC was UP!

Yeah, I saw that yesterday and today, it was down for at least 6 hours starting about this time yesterday, and then seemed to go down at about 1 server time today, and I checked from work at 6:30 and it still wasn't up.. hope it works for a while now though..

This wasn't meant as a whine or complaint (but I can see how you can read it that way), but really just more of a suggestion. Many sites simply throw a banner up saying "sorry for the inconvenience...". I did not read the "other" thread where mk mentioned Langdon is on vacation, so I was out of the loop.

This is also "just a suggestion" (so please don't jump down my throat again), perhaps the SC could be given access to submit info to the Site News, so we don't have to go looking through threads to get some key info (like site outage info, challenge recalculations, etc.)...just a thought.

I started another thread because I honestly believed I am onto something big... something to replace the on-line dpc but with the same addictive effects. Sorry to report I failed....

actually i asked langdon to kill the site for a while so i can get my PAD organised and ripped by the end of the year. DPC was too much of a distraction. Sorry for the inconviences caused to others (oops brief laspes in the reality that the world revolves around me)
;)

I've imagined my internet getting slower with everyone home for the holidays. It's possible it's your ISP.

But then I've also imagined dancing sugarplums.
