Bill Parcells
This man has had an excellent career in the NFL. I spent nearly 15 minutes trying to get a decent shot of him from the Cowboys sideline on Saturday. The sun was bright and I never really came up with one I liked better than this one.
This is #96 in my 1000 faces project. I have found this project to be very inspiring and fun as well...

I have a question John. Anybody feel free to answer if you know. I'm buying this lens shortly. I noticed this on the website:
Canon EOS 20D ,Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM
1/2000s f/4.0 at 245.0mm iso200 full exif
Did you use an extender? How did you get 245mm from a 200mm lens? Or am I misunderstanding what I see? Just curious.
Awesome shot of Bill. I never cared for him much either but have to give credit where credit is due. Great website.

I use a 1.4x extender. The exif doesn't account for that anywhere but the focal length. I don't have a way to include the fact that I used that when I choose my lens on pbase.

Its good from a technical standpoint, astounding actually. Looks like you did some good selective Dodging and Burning, and the exposure is good. You hold good detail in both highlights and shadows, yet...
I dont like how the microphone gets in the way of his mouth, compositionaly it doenst work. Its too obtrusive, and breaks up the face too much. The eyes are great but not enough. I dont wish to be too critical, but if you have others id like to see them too.
For how challenging the lighting was you still nailed a good exposure too. All around a great photo, good job! |
