I found 3 Tiffen ND filters and CLP 58mm brand new in the cases never used. I know what to use the polarizer for but what a bout the ND's?
says ND 0.3
ND 0.6 $3/ea
Nd 0.9
and also a UV filter. ( know what this does also) $1
CPL $3

58mm is a popular size.
An ND is used to lower teh FStop (darken the image) - why you ask? if you are shooting in the daytime outside it can often be too bringt for slow shutter speeds (for water shots) or if you want to use f2.8 for a shallow DOF. can be very handy, and at that price you might grab them and you can always sell them on ebay.

hey Prof thanks for answering my PM
Do the different numbers on the ND's mean they get darker?

Grab 'em dude! Use the UV to protect your lens. Scratch the filter, it's cheap. Scratch the glass, yikes!
Like Prof said, the ND filter is used to minimize the amount of light coming into the camera. Here's a sample where I used a .9ND filter.
The numbers refer to the exposure. The higher it is, the longer you can keep the shutter open.
Grab the CPL as well. Those are all cheap! |

0.3 -> 1 stop reduction in light
0.6 -> 2 stop
0.9 -> 3 stop |

Good score. Sometimes you can find some good stuff in the pawn shops. |

If I was a Nikon guy I could've had a Nikon 35mm SLR and about 5 lenses. I'm not sure what the camera or lenses were but they looked pretty good on the shelf behind the counter. I know at least one had to be a 300mm with about a 77 thread on the end. $350 for all and the case.

By the the way I asked the lady where the stuff came from and she said they have been seeing alot of 35mm stuff since digital became popular. I explained to her that most of the lenses from the 35mm will fit the digitals. Maybe some people don't know that. She also said high school and some collage kids buy the stuff for photgraphy classes and then get rid of it when their done with it.
I gave her my number and told her to call me if any Canon equipment comes in.
