Depends on which beer it is, what it's temperature is and whether you're bloody thirsty! :)
Most of the time I drink bourbon and coke! |

I tried the following
Sapporo
Heineken
Carl's
Tiger
but they are all bitter. Is there something wrong with my taste buds? |

Beer is certain an acquired taste. I don't think anybody got drunk the first time on that. More than likely it was rum and coke or something sweet.
I used to hate beer, but there are times now that I really want one. But only on an empty stomach. I hate drinking beer while eating. Nope, I want a beer or two on an empty stomach, a slight buzz, and then lots of food to take it away. ROFL |

Yes.
However, different people have different tastes. Food/beverage likes and dislikes are individual, regional and even vary by country. Such is the way of the world.
If one was determined to acquire a taste for beer/bier, then one might start with a lighter lager, consume small amounts (a few ounces - perhaps 3-4) of very cold beer. After a period of time, days, weeks or months, the taste will become quite refreshing. Then one can venture out to the more hearty of beers until one finds their "true calling". As wine drinkers progress (typically from sweet whites to dry Cabernets) over years, so it is with beer drinkers. Drinking a cold 32F lager is much different that a 55 degree F stout.
There are few beverages as refreshing in concluding a long day of summertime work in 90 degree F temperatures, seems complete after a few cold ones in the evening. |

Most beers are bitter. They're flavored with hops after all which adds bitterness and has preservative qualities.
If you're looking for a less bitter beer look for styles that typically use less hops or focus more heavily on the malt flavors.
Mild
Scottish Ale
Irish Red
Stout (Medium hopping but balanced with malt)
Porter (Same as stout)
Weizen
Weisse
Lambics
Gueze
Old Ale (Well aged versions tend to be sweet and not bitter)
Barleywine (English versions tend toward sweet rather than bitter)
If you don't like bitter beers styles to avoid would include
India Pale Ale (IPA)
Double/Imperial India Pale Ale (DIPA/IIPA)
Altbeir
Most "West Coast" versions of classic styles
California Common (Steam Beer)
Plisners
EDIT: BTW... Another thing to consider is the temperature the beer is consumed at. The colder the beer the more pronounced the hop bitterness will become and the more pronounced the carbonic acid bite. Allowing the beer to come up closer to room temperature will reduce the perceived bitterness.

Beer might as well be coffee to me...can't stand the flavor of either, matter of fact I can't even stand to go down the coffee isle in the grocery store and don't EVEN let me be around it if you drip some on the hot plate while brewing...ewwww yuck! I even tried a lager (spelling?) once and still believe it was actually the smudge out of my car engine and not really beer.
We had a rule in our house growing up, the first one out of bed made coffee, I used to lie there dying to go watch cartoons waiting for someone else to get up so they had to make the crap.
It is certainly an acquired taste, just the same as liquior would be for others. For me, bring on the rum and coke, the bailey's irish cream (in a Wendy's frosty even better) or the long island iced tea!
Which reminds me of a joke if I may hijack for a second...
The president of Samual Adams, Coors and Budwiser all meet at this bar.
The guy from Budwiser goes up and orders a tall glass of budwiser.
The guy from Coors goes up and orders a tall glass of Coors.
The guy from Samual Adams goes up and orders a diet coke.
Both the other two look at him and his order funny to which he responds, "well if you guys aren't gonna order beer, I'm not either."
haha :)

I think it all depends on the beer & even down to the batch sometimes. I have tryed Guinness here in New Zealand & thought BLAH !! but while travelling through Ireland in August of this year, I tryed it & was very pleasantly surprised to the point where everywhere I went, I had to sample the local Guinness.
While In Scotland during the same month I was taken to a pub (well actually several pubs)that had the more traditionally made beers. I felt it my duty as a beer drinker to sample as many different beers as possible with the obvious result that there are good & bad beers. The biggest problem was getting used to drinking warm beer. A big no no down here.

Clarification request: When you say "Most of the time" do you mean "Most of the time that you do drink"? Or do you mean "Most of the time" - as in > 12 hours a day?
I'm just asking because it affects how I interpret all of your posts. ;-) |

In England, a "real" beer is a pint of bitter. Which is warm and bitter. And lovely. And it is as bitter as the name implies.
A reasonably full list of beer styles can be found here.
//www.ratebeer.com/BeerStyles.asp
You may find that Belgian beers suit well: within the huge variety, there is a preponderence of beers that have different non-bitter tastes (eg malty, sweet or even sour).
As well as helping ugly people have sex, widespread beer consumption is credited as being one of the reasons why the industrial revolution occurred in England (brewing purifies water, reducing water born disease and allowing for greater population density among heavy consumers...)

Now now, I never had warm beer in England. It was perfect cellar temperature, which isn't the same as warm ;)
And yes, beer is not for everyone. Just like wine. And hard liquor.
But I like them ALL :P |

legalbeagle's reference to warm beer was as opposed to chilled lagers etc. it's a bit like Red wine at room temp and white wine chilled.
After we've discussed the type of beer we can get onto how it should be served eg Flat like us southerners, or all creamy with a large head like our northern friends. :) |

Depending on their water filtering and yeast filtering you may not even need to take additional supplements and vitamins. |

Plenty of iron in stout. I think that you may have found a complete meal solution!

Ahhh...damn good question. You'll probably look at my photos in a whole new light too! I always thought they looked better after a few drinks. Always wondered why they scored so low! :p
