About 2.5 years ago I got an acratech ultimate ballhead. It was great and I've been extremely happy with it since then, using it with a Canon D60 and Canon 1DII. I've treated it roughly, hiking with it, sweating over it in the Texan summers and dunking it in various streams, burying it in sand in Death Valley and generally banging it around.

A few weeks ago in Big Bend NP, Texas, parts of the head came apart, due to slightly overzealous adjustment. Even though it was several months out side of warranty, I sent the rather bashed and forlorn looking head back to acratech, after contacting their customer service to see how much the repairs and replacement parts would cost.

They've fixed it right up, replacing the top plate, renewing and replacing the panning adjustments (with the updated designed knobs etc) - and the total cost for this out of warranty repair and upgrade ? Nothing at all. It was and is a great product - but this is also a great company that really takes care of their customers.
