a macro coupler and 2 lenses to take macros?
I bought the 58-52mm coupler so I could try this method before I buy an actual macro lens. Is it supposed to be as difficult as I'm finding it to be or am I doing it wrong?

I believe Kirbic does this. I was thinking of getting a 50mm lens with 49mm front threads and a coupler for my P&S, still thinking about it. I'd like to know as much as possible before I shell out any cash on it though...

I think you can't use a zoom lens, has to be a prime and manual focus... not quite sure on that...

The key is to have "lots of light"... the amount of light coming in is less compared to a regular macro shot. With the shots I posted, I used two 1000 watt halogen shop lights. I could only take so many at a time because the lights would get too hot for comfort.

If you have a macro flash, then that's a whole different ballgame ;)

Great pics Rikki. Now how do you do it? Which lenses do you use?

I just used my 50mm 1.8 and my stock 18-55mm kit lens. I don't have the 100mm 2.8 macro :(

I'm also guessing you need tons of light right?
Can you take decent photos hand held or do you use a tripod mostly?

never mind the light thing. I see your other post

using a tripod is the way to go and BTW, manual focus is key as well... i also use a remote trigger to minimize vibrations...

Reverse lens macro is super fun. Not to mention your DoF is razor thin as well.
