I've seen the upsidedown trees here too. I think they're fun and different. No worries about them falling over!

haha no, I don't think so.

Christmas is a little differnt here i guess. It has become more and more a "commercial" holiday over the years, but we have Sinterklaas. On Dec. 5th it's his birthday. He's a 1593 year old grey guy from Spain. Hard for me to explan this in English, here's a link from Wikipedia: Sinterklaas

Christmas, but Sinterklaas is better IMO. But, it's more like a childrens-day, you can read it in the article I linked to you. Be sure to check out the "Believing" part of it!

I'm a prophet without honor, I tell you! Trust me! LEMON PLEDGE! I once had 8 cats, and it worked like a charm! Orange Pledge won't do the job. Gotta be lemon!

Cats and toddlers are a lot alike. For several years, until my youngest turned 4, my tree was always inside a portable baby playpen. We hung the stockings on the outside of the playpen and then the presents went inside it, away from little hands (or little paws as the case might be). It might not stop them from climbing on it, but it will prevent things from being knocked down all the time. Just a thought.

if its a real tree... you can lightly spray the trunk with water then pepper the tree.... the pepper will stick to the trunk

Cats cant stand pepper..

(damn typos.... i had you spraying the truck... good thing i proofread)

So then you've already celebrated your holidays then? Or do you have another on Dec 24/25 as well?

My family used to have some fairly large trees since we had a high ceiling in our living room. Once or twice we got one that was just too heavy for the tree stand to be able to support it straight. My dad ran some clear fishing line out to it from the wall at maybe 3/4 of the way up, which gave it enough additional support to keep it straight and was pretty much invisible unless you were looking for it. Might be enough to keep it from toppling when the cats jostle it.

Good call on the PVP!

I've also seen enough cats 'nesting' in the trees to know that the 'Kringus' story line is a bit too true.

Kringus!
How to defeat Kringus
The Real Kringus

Good luck with the cats, I've known many families who have used fishing line to stablize their trees so that definitely has my vote.

I put my tree up and decorated, then went to bed. I got up the next morning and couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. It took a few minutes, then I realized all the tinsel was missing from about the middle to the bottom. My hundred pound puppy ATE IT! I'm still wondering when it's coming out the other end. LOL.

Sit them down in front of the TV, and have them watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation a few times....

From my understanding the upside down Christmas tree is so you can get more presents under them...wow looks like the commericalism of Christmas and the materialistic way in which most live these days has finally gone too far. Man I really long for the days of Christmas past.

Put either the cat or the tree out side.

Nothing has worked for us. We now keep him locked up
when we are away.
