One day in a far off world, a little mermaid (let's call her "DeLaney") and her crabby companion (we'll call him "Robert"), were enjoying a nice day at the beach. Late in the afternoon, the little mermaid's attention was drawn toward the sea. Something was brewing but she didn't know what it was.
[thumb]268399[/thumb]
Suddenly the sky changed to all sorts of other-worldly colors and her old friend, the giant squid (we'll call him "Palmetto") appeared in the surf. He looked injured and frantic and told her he was being hunted. DeLaney told Palmetto that she didn't see anything - "It's probably your paranoid delusions again!" she told him. Palmetto thought she may be right, so he headed back out to sea.
[thumb]268401[/thumb]
Palmetto got about a hundred yards out when a boat suddenly appeared. "Yikes!" It was that crazy squid-hunter! Palmetto had been right. The squid-hunter (we'll call him "Art") chased Palmetto in his boat and threw several harpoons at the poor squid. Palmetto managed to pull one out and was screaming for help. DeLaney heard the screams and saw what was happening and she used her special powers to summon "Whitey" the shark.
By now, the scene had attracted a crowd. The little boys from the island came and sat down to watch the action unfold. Whitey came to the rescue, jumped up onto Art's boat and chewed him up into a gurgling mass of blood soaked tissue and bone. DeLaney jumped for joy at the sight of this and all of the sexy mermaid chicks came out to see what was going on. The sexy mer-chicks attracted the attention of a nearby surfer who lived in the castle over the horizon. And lastly, a couple of seals from the local RAF bombing range swam ashore to seek refuge and cheap entertainment. Strangley enough the RAF bombers tracked the seals and dropped a few 500 pound bombs near them - you'd think the seals were the bombing range! And the whole thing was being observed by aliens hovering over the scene in a flying saucer for no particular reason.
And they all lived in fear of harpoons and explosive ordnance ever-after.
THE END.

Are you serious? That's the name I picked out if my wife has a girl. I didn't know you had a girl with that name. |

This is starting to look as busy as the beach in Rimini (northern Italy) in August - you have to book your beach chair (row 14, seat 41) DAYS in advance. |

Better rethink that name choice, eh? Lovely story btw. I had a story-line for my image of the disappearing mermaids too, but I never got to develop that one :-)

Yep, that's Delaney on the day we went pumpkin-rolling, seven years old & in grade 2 right now. All of the teachers she's had so far have marvelled at her creativity. She's truly a joy! She made up her own meatloaf recipe (add applesauce & apple chunks) and we had it for dinner last night, it was great & she was so proud. I just had a meatloaf sandwich for lunch.
Sorry for my threadjacking tendencies.
We named her Delaney because we wanted something unusual. I guess you live far away enough that it's OK. ;-)
You should definitely use that name if you have a girl. We usually just call her "Laney" or "Lane" for short.

Well, get this:
1. My parents looked up the most common name the year I was born, it was John, so they named me John.
2. My parents looked up the most common name the year my brother was born, it was Mike, so they named him Mike.
3. My wife's name is Kathy.
4. Her brother's name is Bob.
I hope you have a girl! :-D My younger daugher's name is Shelby. |

Ahaha, I didn't notice, seems like forever since I've been there. Everything is so wondrous & new when you have a memory like mine. :-) I was probably distracted by the hot mermaids. |
