Has anyone bought and used Noise Ninja before? Is it worth buying? |

I have a copy. I think I have the home bundle and so far it has worked quiet well for me. |

Comparisons in magazines say that Noise Ninja is better.

I don't see the 'plastic-look' with noise ninja as much I did with NeatImage.
Neat image though has some other options of sharpening out of focus image which sometimes comes in handy. I was debating which one to buy, but finally went with noise ninja as I valued the non-plastic look more... |

My local newspaper just bought noise ninja. I haven't had a chance to try it out myself yet though. Our head photogrpaher got chewed by someone in upper management for running a front page available light photo on Thanksgiving day that was too noisy.
I have seen the newspaper printed results of some low light basketball action shots that look quite good after noise ninja had been applied to it. Newspaper print, in general, is poor quality anyway, so something like neatimage or noise ninja would be useful in a lot of cases.

Noise Ninja and Neat Image both do the same thing, but slightly differently. I really like both for different reasons. Ninja is better as the ISO gets higher though.

This post is a little old, but I wanted to give my opinion because I like NN so much. I shoot a lot of concerts (read: ISO 1600/3200 and Wide Open) and Noise Ninja is REQUIRED. I bought the Home, then upgraded to Pro for the batch capability. Now I recently bought the Photoshop plug-in version upgrade as well and I've incorporated the plug-in in all of my concert processing actions.
If you're not familiar with how it works, it's awesome. You load up the noise profiles for your camera and it can automatically figure out with EXIF the ISO and camera model and apply the correct profile and remove the noise. It's a must for a first step in any processing action!
Beyond that, their customer service is awesome, purchase is easy, the product is FLAWLESS. It's truly one of the few pieces of software I've ever used that I've NEVER found a bug in a final release. That means the world to me!
I have thousands of before & after shots that speak for themselves. A lot of concert photographers that aren't up on digital technology can't believe how clean the shots are that I get when there is virtually NO light to work with. I've never used it to try to clean up any studio style ISO 200-400 stuff (not what I do) but where I live at ISO 800+ it's king. |
