Here are some pics from my trip to Big Bend National park the week of Thanksgiving.

Broken out into 5 days, each day of the trip

I was a "tour guide" for my sister in law and her kids so I did not get the chance to take my time or shoot when and where I wanted to. Still happy with a few of htem anyway

Some great shots there!

My favorite is 1634.

And other wonderful shots are 1667, 1778, 1914, 1922, 2086, 2303, 2321, 2406.

Looks like you had a great time!

Beautiful shots, James! I love the sky on Day 4...you have some gorgeous images from that day! :) I can't wait to go out there myself...the photo ops seem to be plentiful!

Wow, I've been there and done that :-)

I was in Big Bend in the first week of November with Gordon. We took a Rocky Moutain School of Photography workshop together. We went to a lot of the same place you did, but without 2 kids in tow! :-) We didn't make it to that old wild west looking town, where was that?

My shots that I took can be found at Big Bend by crabAPPL3

Man I wish I had the clouds you had on day 4!

Danny, I saw your pics from the link over at TFP, really good stuff. I PM'ed Gorden in October or so when some discusions were going on about Big Bend. He told me of the class and I wish I could have gone. but our trip had been planed since last year.

That old west town is in Lajitas, about 17 miles or so west of Terlingua/ Study Butte. Its an interesting place. I stayed there on my first visit to Big bend and the rooms were $56 a night. Not even a year later some rich guy bought the place and has changed it up a lot. The room I wanted went for $120 a night. so I stayed elsewhere.
For a price he will send his learjet to come get you and land out just north of the resort. There is golf course out there for the golfers. the restaurant is really nice, but the food is not near as good as the starlight theatre in Terlingua. I think he is trying to turn it into some fancy resort for the rich and overly wealthy.

If you ever get a change drive from Big Bend National park out towards Lajitas, then on through Big Bend State park to Presidio. one of the best and most scienic drives I have seen outside of the national park.
