Hi everyone. A friend at work gave me 3 cute little pears from NW Arkansas and I decided that I had to get some photos of them before they become a snack. So I set them up in some still life shots.

Any comments would be appreciated. I'm trying to get a feel for what works and what doesn't with this type of imagery. And as you can see from the examples, I favor a shallow DOF.

Also, if anyone can id these little rascals I'd appreciate it.

Excellent still lifes. I think I like the last one best. Probably because I see it as slightly warmer. What camera/lens did you use?

Thx Harvey. Glad you like them.

I used my 300D for these images (SD9 is in need of repair) along with a rather odd lens combination... a 50mm f1.4 M42 Yashica, coupled with a Yashikor WA adapter lens. Most of the shots were taken at f2, I believe, that seemed to be the sweet spot between getting a soft background and a well defined focal point.

Nice still lifes. I'm with Coolhar that I like the last one best but also like the bowl in some of the others.

My best guess is that they are Forelle pears, but there are thousands of varieties.
