but really is so tough! That is how I felt about this photograph ever since I saw it way back when in the metal challenge:
.
The idea is simple enough, but the execution to get a picture like that is REALLy tough to do without getting any of the reflections. So been trying here at home to follow the steps and am realizing just how difficult it is. It has actually been a really good learning experienc and I highly recommend it to people to try. It's amazing just how much attention to detail you need to have to get things just right.
So anyway, this is my attemt at a similar picture. Still need to work on getting the image a bit more smooth though. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cuz it's not as good as Keith's yet and Keith's ribboned? lol
It looks good - I think Keiths' has something dark reflecting a bit more shadow and contrast than yours.

have a look at this tutorial about the color of the reflector
try using a black reflector to subtract light to give more depth
as in images 10 & 11
that may do the trick
reflectors

It seems like there should be filters to accomplish the same things (says someone always looking for a cheaper way). |

I got something better up my sleeve! ;)
Thanks for the link. I was using a homemade light tent with all white so maybe I will try the black reflector. |

Well after spending a few frustrating days trying to get the shot I really wanted to get, I decided to use a mirror some lights and some silverware to try and get something that I thought might be unique, only to see this just before I went to upload my pic. Rather then get slammed for copying someone elses work, I am out of the Spoon Ford Knife, why would you post something like this when a challenge so specific is coming up?

If I may be permitted a touch of personal trumpet blowing, another blue ribbon spoon. Mine required a DQ to hit top spot though. |
