Who offers the better programing in your opinion?
I know Sirius is gonna have Howard Stern, but XM seems to offer more..

Which one do you reccomend?

Its on my X-mas list..

Doesn't srius play all MLB games while XM airs all NFL games?

I guess it's all about what you want more? I know more people have XM, but that is mostly because it comes in many new cars now.

It realty depends on if you have any special intrests. If your into sports I think XM has the better choices. Sirius seems to have bigger names in talk (like Howard Sterns). They are pretty equal in music choices.

I went with XM and have no regrets at all. I have it in my truck, can get it online, and my boss has added a portable reciever to my account for an extra $6.99 a month. Sirius currently doesn't offer a portable unit.

Also, I found some software for my Windows Mobile Smartphone that lets me stream music through GPRS. Quality isn't the best (32bps) but it's great to have!

As far as reception, They both should be pretty good. I only have problems under heavy tree cover, or mountains.

Good Luck,
Aaron

If you have DirectTV, you can check out XM's programming through the music channels. XM has just taken the music channels over -- what you hear on the TV music channel is what you'd hear on their broadcasts.

I have XM and absolutely love it. Basically, if you follow football and like Howard Stern, go with Sirius. If you follow MLB and the NHL go with XM. XM has Opie and Anthony if you like a Howard Stern-type show.

XM's financials are a bit stronger, and I believe they have more subscribers than Sirius. XM also has more affiliations (satellite TV, Donald Trump's TV show, popular in rental cars, etc.)

Whatever you choose, you won't be sorry. What cable did for the TV industry, satellite radio has done for the music industry!

Even better IMO! It got to the point that I wouldn't even listen to brodcast radio because of the commercials.

I've had XM for a couple of years now.

Back when they both came out, I read several reviews comparing the sound quality between the two, and XM always won. They always said Sirius sounded slightly more 'tinny.' I don't know if Sirius has raised the quality since then.

get Sirius...about a year ago my boss told me investing in Sirius might be a good idea...we both put a good bit of money into it, and it's really climbing :D

we just got xm as part direct for no extra cost - and i have to say it kicks arse. We have stopped watching the tv part of direct to listen to the radio.
Great selection, so much variety.

got that backwards. sirius has all of the NFL games and XM carries the MLB.

i am buying sirius for someone for xmas. i spent a TON of time going between the two in the store until i actually looked at the channel lineups. sirius seems to have more talk channels, which is what fella would want. (and i have to say the nfl thing didn't hurt MY desire for it either. :)

also, look at the different players. i finally went with sirius because i really liked the features of the sportster replay. i have heard bad reviews of the xm portable models, so i gave up on the pipe dream of portability and went with the stationary model i liked best.

in the end, the programming is relatively similar. the decision probably lies somewhat in the equipment.

I bought three of them for x-mas. One for myself and one for hubby and my Father. It's killing me it's under the tree.

That would be January 9th.

I had XM for a few months and gave it up. Have Sirius now and love it. I like the equipment and the channel line up better. I don't follow any sports nor do I listen to any of the music channels, so those are a wash. The news is better, the talk is better on Sirius IMO.
