Canon EF 24-105mm f/4.0L IS

50 1.8 @ 1.8 -- I liked it, sharpened only a little...

50 1.8 @ some forgotten aperture probably f/4 -- the sky's blown out, I know, I like it. Kind of a sort of abstract or minimalism type thing going on here I suppose...

Thanks, as far as usm, I only sharpened it about 50% at 0.5 1 threshold, and that accounts pretty much only for resizing for the web...so really no extra sharpening was added.

Well, I still like it. :)
The reason I mentioned usm was because of the noise in the background and the black outline. I notice that sometimes my pictures display both these outcomes when I apply usm.

ahh good point Pat...I didn't even notice that. I guess whatever was behind it was just dark...it's either a bridge or the outline of the pond, I can't tell...almost looks intentional, but I'm not that good, I didn't even think about the background when I shot it...but it worked out anyway.

Thanks...yeah I thought about cloning that out, but ended up deciding I liked it anyway. I did end up cloning out one of those little wooden stands that holds a roll of baggies for folks to pick up their dog's doodoo with. Heck, that could be a bag of doodoo for all I remember.

I like this one -- the bottom part anyway. I usually don't mind blown skies in B&W images, as they often work well. But this one seems to overpower the rest of the image. Have you considered a panaramic image of just the lower portion? With a nod to the recent challenge I can see the bottom portion hanging on the wall of a hallway as a triptych -- giving much more room for them to walk into as they go down the trail frame by frame.

Is it just me or is it tilted a bit. I realize they are walking down a slight hill, and the trees are not growing straight -- but the man looks to be leaning a bit too far forward to be walking down a hill. Could just be me though.

Nicely captured moment in any regards.
