Took this one shot rather spontaneously while on a late-night jaunt to the Point with the boyfriend (didn't want to blow him off by spending the whole time with a camera in front of my face :D), and I kind of like how it was going so I messed around with it a little bit. I'm not so great at the post-processing part so I was wondering if anyone had any tips/ideas? This is what I did with it:

Minor spot-editting for a couple of 'dead pixels' my camera generates in low-light (I think I missed a couple, too), curves, then levels, then a tiny bit of color adjustment for the blue and green billboards in the background, then more levels, then cropped for a tighter focus on how the lights curve around, shrunk to websize.

Any input appreciated, thanks :)

Any input? I might consider cropping... the whole top half of the image may not be necessary; it would create a neat effect by emphasizing other things. You may also want to play more with color; different hues, more or (probably) less saturation, etc. have fun with it.

//modgethanc.com/transience/pointnight2.jpg lower focus, lighter color, less harsh contrast...I do like this better already. Thanks :)

I like the way you cropped it and adjusted it in the last one. Cool shot!

While drinking coffee did this...
Levels
Contrast
Saturation
New layer - convert to b/w, 50% transparent, merged luminosity
resize
sharpen
save for web

Slightly different crop - I find the glaring light to the left of the building in the background distracting and left the building on the hill in the background there as well, but not the antenna. Cropped too close to the water sprays crowds them.

Sorry, but I don't get it. I can't see what the main subject of the shot is - It appears to be that string of lights in the middle of the frame.

Would the shot have been more interesting if you had composed it with the fountain as the subject? Because there are a lot of elements here which are distracting.

To be honest, I am not that crazy about the picture. There doesn't seem to be a main subject. Looks like a random shot.

the lights converging into the horizon are interesting, but i think others are right about some of the other distracting elements (especially the lights on the ridge and tower). rotating and using curves you could try to isolate the central lights.

keep 'em coming!
