I had two choices for submission for the "Letter B" challenge and showed them to quite a few people at work.
Everyone picked one of the two particular photos as being the technically better and far more appealing shot - which I submitted, but then at the 11th hour I went and changed it to the other one (hoping that the fellow DPCers wouldn't pick up on some of the flaws in it).
Seems that they're all a smart bunch here, and they obviously have ;)
So has anyone else ever submitted a photo and then at the last moment wished they had of stuck with their original?
I'm kicking myself now !!
Oh well - can't wait until the challenge is over and I'll put up my second choice for display :)

For the past 5 challenges (including the country challenge) I wished I had and because of the indecision I'm currently in a slump and I hate it.
Hopefully the Speed challenge will take me out of it. |

Yes I have done that. Actually most of my submission I've shown to the artist who is basically mentoring me for his approval, and sometimes I ignore his better judgement and pay for it. Like the self portrait! I wanted to show the real me, the side that not a lot of people know about and I paid for it.

Yeah, I HATE IT! I always have so many photos to choose from and I end up submitting the one that I like the most instead of the one that is "the best." I usually have at least 5 or so photos to choose from and based on my scores I seem to be making terrible choices of which one to eventually submit. I think it has to do with the fact that I like different, more subtle, art images, while more straightforward and bold shots do a lot better with the wide audience here. I'd say that picking the photo to submit is the most frustrating part of this whole process but also the most important learning tool. |

Yeah I've had the same thing happen to me a few times. Now I just stick with the orginal choice.

Yes, ozdick, i'm exactly in the same boat. For my last two challenges, letter B and Rural, i was pretty firm about two submissions. Rural, i had on my submission page for just about 6 days. In both cases, at the last minute i changed them. Rural, i changed for something that fitted the challenge better and now is viewed as more-of-the-same. For letter B i had a simple image that i liked a lot but thought it wouldn't go over too well with the voters. Both this Sat and Sun i had big shoots and lots of pictures that i'm pleased with. Then, in the last hour i changed it for the worst of the whole bunch. Am paying the price on both of these submissions and from now on will submit what *i* like the most. Even if it gets a low score, maybe a couple of people like it also and then at least you get feedback. Now i'm getting feedback on pictures that don't do much to myself either. So, what's the point?

Yep, I have made that "wrong" choice a few times myself. Usually against other people's advice so I can't blame anybody but myself :(

Yeah. I did the same thing on The Letter B. Changed it 10 minutes until deadline and my score is not so good.
Oh, well.

Yes I've done it also... :) Couple times I've listened to the advice of others (not photographers) and then been less then happy with my score, and think "I wonder if what my score would be if I had...". But you'll never really know what your score would be. :)
So now, I'll still ask other opinions, but in the end it's really YOUR decision to make and you'll get better at making that decision as you learn what people like and don't like (on this particular site).
BTW, you're off to a great start with a 6.3 average! Keep it up if possible!
