I am glad everyone enjoyed my triptych, "Bird of Prey". I wanted to show the regular sized versions of each as requested. Until the next challenge....

Cutter - i thought the images were just perfect but i am curious to know what the situation was. If this a captive bird or in the wild. Was he taking a bath or hunting.
Very national Geographics - hey maybe you should submit them! |

Cutter- I am in awe of these photos. Not only are the images magnificient, I am a bit jealous of the opportunity to see this bird that close. (am assuming it was in the wild). I live in upstate NY and the past 2 summers there have been reported sightings of a pair of Eagles in this area. (Extremely Extremely uncommon for this area). I spent unmeasurable hours searching for the Eagles to no avail. Unfortunately there also have been 2 separate reports of the Eagles demise, (one hit by a car and one killed on the powerlines). I can only hope that they multiplied while here...
So anyways, thanks for sharing such magnificient shots!!

According to the photographer's notes on the triptych, cutter spent an hour observing this bird fishing in "his pond". I deduce that the bird is in the wild, although I suppose it's possible the Denver zoo has a pond that the eagles catch their meals from, in the enclosure. I think it unlikely, though.
My appreciation of these shots has increased by leaps and bounds since I realized that they are probably shot in the wild.
