Do Tameron and Sigma have a Canon "L" glass equivalent?

Sigmas is their EX lenses. Tamron's are their SP lenses.

I think canon's L lenses are the only 'weather sealed' ones. Most if not all of canon's L glass is USM, while the others 9while using different names for it) are mostly 'regular' focusing motors.

Sigma has a wider selection of EX lenses than Tamron has SP lenses.

I have the Sigma 18-50 2.8 EX DC (DC meaning digital APS sensor sized lens) and the Tamron SP24-135. Both are very sharp, solidly built lenses.

Sigma and Tamron do not have an equivalent to the L lenses. The "L" refers to low-dispersion optics. It's the glass elements inside the lens.

According to Canon Lens Work III, L means Luxury.

Other lens manufacturers use UD, LD and ED elements in their lenses.
