Well, after almost 3 years with my camera, the AF stopped working.
I spent the day at Longwood Gardens, and towards the end of the day I was photographing a presentation they were giving about Japanese culture, which involved Martial Arts demonstrations as well as some ceremonies. I switched on AF because it was needed, and all it does now is hunts for something to focus on. I know its not the lens (I tried multiple lenses) so I have come to the conclusion that the focusing points have broken (is this even possible?)
I say the focusing points because even when I focus manually, the point of focus in which I want to do, doesnt blink when its sharp focus.
Has this happened to anyone here? If so, how much was it for Canon to fix such said issue? I ask because well, lets face it, a used 300D sells for about 3-400 dollars, and if im gonna spend 400 to fix it, im just going to make the jump and spring for a 5D.
Thank you.

You tried all the normal tricks of taking batteries out, changing lenses, etc?
I know!

Happened to me about 6-8 months ago or so to my 300D. Your "autofocus mirror" (or something like that, I forget exactly what the service center called it) has broken. I had to send it in to be fixed. Took about 2-3 weeks, and cost about $200. Sorry, but I hope this helps.

If the AF is the only issue, I'll give you $125 (seriously :) I'd offer even more if I was confident that the AF was likely to remain the only issue, and not the first sign of a complete meltdown.
There's lots of MF freaks like me, though. Your best bet would be to ebay it. I would not be surprised if it brought upwards of $300. |

IM a MF freak too, but I was doing some quick movements, and lets face it, AF rocks for stuff like that.
