Barren
On a barren landscape I started.
As a seedling nature took me in hand
and I grew and grew.
In full flower my vibrant color was a
still life masterpiece. I caught the eye
of man.
The climax of my beauty is a distant,
faded thing. Time has stripped me
bare.
Some might think me ugly and say
I look dead and barren or even carved
of stone.
When my time here is over and I can
feel the sun no more.
I will have a certain tranquillity when
placed in my mother̢۪s arms once again.

Originally posted by christyrack: Ok...here's my story for a poem....Gary is serving time for a mistake he made when he was young. He’s a changed manâ€Â¦he’s not the same person he was when he went in. His 12 year old son has never known his dad outside the prison walls. His family has stuck by him throughout his incarceration. He’s been lonely and depressed, but now that we’ve fallen in love, his outlook on life has totally changed. We talk on the phone and write letters almost daily. He’s become a major person in my life, and even though we haven’t physically met yet, I know him better than any person I’ve ever known. He has about 2 years left to go. He comes from a family of coal miners, which is what he plans to do when he gets out. I will be flying to see him in May. We’re both nervous and scared about actually meeting, but I have no doubt in my mind that he’s my soulmate.

Does anyone have a pic for this?
"Captured Love"
Though our skin has never met
our passion relies on more than that.
Though our eyes have never seen
the evidence of love will still remain
My heart is bound, not as a chain,
but as a journey to hopeful days
The future holds the lock and key
our love will flourish, when set free.
I feel I know your heart and soul
I feel mine start to lose control.
My every thought is set on you
and the iron that is restricting you.
So, now I wait to be your bride
and hold you near my heart inside.
I never knew what dreams were made of
until I found your captured love.

"Abandoned...or is it?" Part I
Hush, hush goes the night,
listen close and hear the cry
of a faint voice calling you
Warning you,
don't go inside,
for evil awaits beyond the door.
The grass is waving
like the breath of death
is lurking near.
Or is it footsteps passing through?
A cold chill rushes you like
a bitter bite of a frozen wind.
Your mind is racing
what to do.
You laugh in jest and say
"this old house is just an
abandoned shell of a home",
but whispers tell you
that you are wrong.
So you go with a deaf ear
and open the door...
Part II
...hush, hush goes the night
listen close when you hear the cry
of a faint plea calling you,
warning you
not to go inside.
For what danger was waiting
beyond the door,
now laughs in jest,
as you lie cold and still
in your grave.
If only her whispers
you would have heeded
not to enter
this old abandoned house
(in your own words)
Now her footsteps pass over you
as a haunting dance.
She is quiet now
no whispers, no cries
as you sleep, sleep well.
She hears the breath of death
and the message of which it tells,
for she knows its cry and sting
all too well.

"The Circle of Life"
The circle of life is so rich and bountiful
so many different shades and hues
making a master piece altogether colorful,
that discrimination cannot refuse.
If we only had a mind set, simple as pencils
from a box in the creators hand,
oh what great and marvelous miracles
we as humanity would learn and understand.

I wrote this for my wife. She will kill me for this but she types for me
lol and I wanted to honor her. Jeff
"True Love"
I long to be a poet,
words for all my dreams
everytime I kiss your lips
they all come true it seems.
I may write a sonnet, with
the music my heart sings,
each night I pull you close
oh what harmony it brings.
I could be a painter,
your portrait fills my mind,
I am an artist, a creator
and your beauty is all I find.
If I were a dancer,
I would hold you tight and sway,
move slowly across the floor
with a tenderness display.
I may just author a novel,
and tell of romance and fantasy
or I might simply be the reader
and imagine passion running free.
Inspired by who you are,
I desire to be all of the above
to care for you forever
and be your only true love.
Jeff

Can't wait to hear your next poem Robert. I think people are gonna have withdrawls soon. When you are done with Ken I guess. |
