No, my bank account NEVER likes me! lol
We always have 15 new things we need just to get where we would be if we had gotten a small biz loan. I still NEED so much!

Well your camera bag will be happy then lol I know there has to me some lens that has caught your eye lol
I understand that though. You have a lot of upfront costs and you also need to factor in the fact that you both are working a bilion hours, which this has to cover. At least it makes you havppy and ya know in a year or two you will finally be able to start really reaking (sp) the benefits of it.

Depends on the time and album, but usually $1900 to 2700 next year. This year was more like 1200-1500.

i went to introduce myself to a photog that has just set up a studio in this town on thursday. Very pleased to say she she shooting digital. And good images not cheesy kmart style crap like all the other photos in town. She was very pleased that i also have changed to digital and work with photoshop. So pleased infact that she asked if i would be interested in being her assisant once she is all set up (and i have my greencard).
Which would be kickarse - all the benifits of having a studio without having to pay for it ;) |

Reeking, raking .. it's all benefit!
25 weddings a year at average $1500 profit after printing and albums isn't terrible, but with overhead etc, it's a living. :) We've made strides from our $700 coverages anyways lol

oh, i was thinking the $2500-2700 range. That's about what a friend of mine paid for his a few months ago. One guy he talked to wanted $4k.
$2500 and 20 weddings, would be ideal, with some portraits on the side it woudl be pretty much what I need to survive, counting overhead like you said. I should get back to work on that Mentorship thingy.. heh.

actually, getting a job with her would help a LOT with green card. You have her fill out some forms saying that you're indespensable to her business, and you're almost golden.

Our eventual goal is to be in the $3500-5000 range which is the top end around here. Not shabby. :) Fewer weddings, more $ and some portraits yes. I should get back to work on the Mentorship too now that I finished that crazy screwed up deleted the files wedding. :)

ROFL
No, I installed some program called Studio Flow and when I opened it, it "catalogued" my harddrive. When I closed it, it deleted my desktop including the current wedding I was working on, or basically 450 completed files out of 600. I had to bust ass to get the wedding done by last Sunday evening including two all-nighters, but it got done. :)

Good save. First thing they teach you in any customer service class, never tick off the customer. The business NOT lost in referrals is often reward enough for the extra effort made to please.

The bride would have gladly waited - but I had said two days before "they will be done Sunday" and if you're a betting man and it's physically possible, bet on me having it done. It was done around 10 Sunday evening working practically 20 hrs a day.

man, if I get anything less than 7 hours, I'm mostly worthless all day. 6 hours is my minimum if I'm going to have any coherent mental function at all.
