I think I'm getting hurt by the many similar shots thing, but I think mine being one of the best of those should count for something (yeah, yeah, IMO...) maybe people really don't like [...........] shots, like Jutilda commented (yay, 'tilda!)

Again. Got another comment that it is not camouflage, but in the challenge description:

"Camouflage is used to conceal something through the use of disguise, coloring or misrepresentation"

Do you think people is voting down disguise? I thought it was OK because of the challenge description.

Came back to mediocrity after a while... :-((((

It was a 5.8 :( This time I think the night time voters were better. :)

I too have an odd comment but I can't reveal it or one would know which it is, but the comment was how I should have done something else with my photo, and had I it would NOT have been camoflauge!? It is truly amazing what some deem as camo and what some don't. The truly camo ones are being overlooked in my opinion.

Well, I obviously have a wacky sense of what the challenge means because I'm sitting right near a personal worst. That's saying a lot. Eek. Oh well, maybe I can take a brown in this one. ;)

You'll have to get at the end of the brown line. :)

Started out well...falling almost a 1/2 point during the morning? Anyone else still dropping?

What score do you think it will take to place?

My score has gone down from last time, oh well. I'm new, but some day I will have a good photo that at least gets into the top 10.

kingduck, you sure will :)
Go check out Joey's profile and look at the first couple of photos he entered. I think he was 14 just like you when he started. And now he won't share ribbons with any of usl

Are you sure about that? Sometimes I get the impression that the first bunch of voters, in the few hours right after rollover, are often ... hmmm ... very generous and enthusiastic. And then the morning after folks are bringing us back down to earth. Maybe it's all in how you look at it.

Don't worry, Brandon, you will soon be getting great scores and winning ribbons. Almost everyone, (unless they have lots of previous photographic experience)doesn't do that well when they first start submitting pictures to challenges.

Always remember to learn from a bad score so you can get better rather than just getting mad and resenting stuff.

Even though I think I've learned a lot and have entered pictures in over 100 challenges I still sometimes manage to enter pictures that really suck! Just a couple of challenges ago I had a picture finish in the lowest percentile that I've ever had! So, don't worry - you are young and in a few months I expect we all shall see you winning a ribbon.

Sure of my own opinion, yup :D
My score always drops a couple of 0.1's on the morning after then steady climbs back up af we go from afternoon to evening.
Don't get me wrong, i am happy with my score still. But i like to refer to this pattern as the morning after blah phenomenon.

Well heck, I can't figure it out...I entered a shot that I love for personal reasons but realistically did not expect to do very well. Now, this is my 5th or 6th challenge, so I HOPE I am improving, but I know I have a long way to go...
That said...this shot is doing better out of the gate then anything I have entered yet!!
Go figure :))

Forget this whole entry. I posted several comments from my voters...I changed some words and scratched any reference to my photo. However, someone said they would change my vote to a 1 if they knew I had referenced their comment.

See later post by KenSkid

Thanks.

Down to a 6.05 This is rediculous. I bet voters are not even seeing what is there! Oh well.

Whoa boy! You still have 6 days of votes left, and a 6.05 ain't that bad.

Looks mighty good from where I stand at 5.6

When you repeat the comments that closely, all the people who left those comments now know who entered that shot. If one of them were mine I would be tempted to go back and change my vote to a 1. Anonymity is an essential part of the challenge concept here at dpc. People need to pay it more respect.

Anonymity is only to protect the system from friends voting other friends higher on purpose, and voting down people that they don't like personally, or who have just pissed them off. Once you've made a vote there's no reason to go back and change it just to be petty about anonymity.

Finding out who it is and then changing the vote is what the anonymity is there to keep from happening, if then you go changing your vote because someone broke the anonymity, it becomes sort of ironic, don't cha think?

This is a photo popularity contest, not a people popularity contest, your vote should have no reflection on whether or not you like someone or what they did, including breaking anonymity.

Wonderful. It is difficult to see ********, but that is the point of the challenge right?

I like this shot

Wow, *********!!! Beautiful picture, ********** is a little distracting

Awesome. Had to look hard to see it, but thats what this challenge is about.
