Is this site suitable for the likes of me.
I'm starting off in the world of digital photography. I bought a nice cheap little camera that can go anywhere with me. I must admit I'm tempted to splash out on a proper one this christmas.
I'm lucky enough to live in ireland which is like living in a postcard anyway.
Also whats the general opinion on improving photos with software? Is it cheating?
By the way the photos some of you take are amazing.
This is one of the last sunny days of our summer. Any opinions?

Software is GOOD.
Unsharp mask is also good, learn it, love it, use it.
I like the composition of the picture, and the reflection, wish the people showed up a little better though.

welcome to DPC, everyone is welcome here. as youstated there are many folks here with some AWESOME photos.
DPC is a very good place to learn. You really dont need to geta new camera to replace the one you just got just yet. Best to learn your current camera and push it to its limits (and yours) then after a while once you figure out what you want from a camera then its time to decide what fits you best.

Hi Liam,
There are all levels of photography on this site. It's all a learning experience. You'll pick up some great tips on the forums and there's a good tutorials section as well.
But, most importantly, the challenges will really get you out there and taking photographs. And voting on challenges helps the way you 'see' images.
Don't worry about spending money on a new camera if you're just getting into photography, the camera you have at the moment seems powerful enough;

Oh, and I'm in Ireland too - There are a few Irish members here.
John.

yes this site is suitable for the likes of you. This site encompasses a wealth of talent, teachers, mentors and students who are here for one common thing, to take digital pictures.
As for opinions on software to imrpove photos, I recommend using the search function for the forums and you will find many lively threads on that topic.
Enter a few challenges if you want, and remember to have fun!
Welcome to DPC by the way, and while you're at it, send a little Irish luck my way, will you?
