Thank you so much for starting this thread. I was just about to do something similar myself.
Though I can't agree with the cause of every war, I do know the soldiers who have fought, who are fighting, who lost their lives, who kept their lives - all are so very important. Thank you...

Yes, thanks to all who have served and are currently serving. Also thanks to all the families. My husband served it the air force for 20 years and the families have to sacrifice so much too. I didn't have young kids because we were only married 10 of the 20 years but my heart went out to those young moms. Especially those who were stationed overseas and away from all other family members.
BTW this isn't my husband but a very interesting man at a veterans day parade.

A bit more graphic, but my tribute to those who serve(d), from the "Heros" challenge:

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
=============
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there.I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.
