I can only speak for myself, but in my case definitely. Looks liek the entry is a crop of the other one? Why you let the beautiful, soft, white face go so dark is a mystery to me :-)

This was a completly different shot...taken a few seconds later...

Why would I let the beautiful face go so dark and enter that one? Cause I'm an idiot! ;-)

I am not a big fan of "light on white" photos, but your "outtake" is delightful.
Forgive me, but I must agree with your self-assessment.

I would have scored the one you didn't enter much higher. I was personally upset that the doggie was out of focus.

I will second the comments expressed by Bear....

You fumbled the ball on this one, my friend. It is really sad that you opted for the photo you did as the other was so so much better.

Live an learn I guess.

PS Calling yourself an idiot is perhaps a bit harsh...... but then again, I don't know you that well,,,,,,,,,,hehehehehe.

Your outtake is a huge improvement.

Good luck with your next challenge.

Yep...just as I thought...I blew it...maybe a half to 3/4 point? Oh well..My first DSLR was purchased last April... So only been doing this a short while.

I'll choose more "wisely" in the future!

from me yes. I hate to say it but it was blurred and the first wasn't. The eyes were sharp and the image was cleaner looker. I think #2 is beautiful.

Oh why didn't you enter your out take! It's a much better photo and would of scored well! The focus in your entry is really too soft. You nailed it in the second one!

I have to agree with everyone else. The outtake is a better shot and I would have scored it higher. The one you used is out of focus on the dog's face and it looks underexposed. The other shot has nice focus and fits the challenge nicely.

I also would have scored the outtake a lot higher, I concur with all the comments before, one you submitted being too dark and out of focus etc. I would have scored it at least 2 or 3 points higher. Cute shot.

Out-take is much better!

But I bet you would have gotten a comment... Eyes and Nose are Too Dark, does not meet challenge (evil laugh)

I second guess myself all the time! Don't fret it. Just know that you have those great photos for yourself, if not for a DPC challenge! :)

Outtake would have been 3 points higher.. a MUCH better shot.

Oh hell yes! I gave your original a 3 and that was generious. No need for such out of focus shot and underexposure. I would've given higher marks for your "Should have." It would be a better shot if the dog was looking into the camera tho.
