I shot this last week at Barnsley Gardens. I really like it and would like a print. But as far as I have edited it now I feel something is missing.
The only edits I have done are
Virtual Photographer - Fall Colors
Crop
Add Border.
Anybody want to suggest something to make this photo pop it would be greatly appreciated. I fell the water needs to be lightend a bit to make it match the reat of the photo. As it was taken the water was completely in the shade.

Personally, I would use selective color to darken the blues in the sky and really bring them out, and then I would consider using the "gothic glow" ps action, it's worked wonders on some of my landscape photos - unless you're focusing on keeping the integrity of the original scene.

I'd like to see a dark red color correction layer followed by a convert to black and white, darkening those skies and adding contrast.

basically just selective coloring, then added gradient to the sky ... with a layer mask...I also adjusted the levels to make it a bit darker, overall, then dodged some to bring some areas back to normal...technically, you could probably use two levels layers and a mask if you're more comfortable that way.

For the basic edit, Image, Levels, Options, 0.5 in shadows & highlights, OK, then slid the center pointer under the histograph over to the right until the neutral was dropped to about 0.80%. After that selective adjustments were done to Cyan and Blue, adding 20&% black and Hue/Saturation adjustment, yellow, slid hue to the right about 6%, saturation up about 10% and dropped lightness down about 15% (shifted yellows to darker green). New layer via copy, levels, slid neutral right about 15%, then erased that back off shadow areas such as foliage and front of barn.
With an already compressed image, this was a bit tough to keep from pixelating, but this kinda gives a general direction, though I'm not really completely happy with the sky. Was a quickie for effect.

Here's my take;
Levels, Hue/Saturation (played with yellow and green channels), Curves, Curves with gradient for sky (copied deapee!) - Some dodging on the water. |
