Here is my entry
sky blown but I knew that going in
Would of any of these versions done better?
or is it just a boring subject not executed well? Give it to me - I can take it. |

I think I like the fourth one the best, but then what do I know I have a 5.04 on my grain photo.

Though your entry appears to have quite a bit of depth and works as a landscape photograph I think you could have achieved more impact if you exploited the textures you show in the second alternative (DSC_8010-f). Meaning, use the perspective you chose for your entry but photograph it from the point you chose for the second alternative.

I think that the third, fourth, and fifth alternatives would have all done well.

take the advice given by cpanaioti and add a person to your shot and you've got it! |

What JPR said. I think the last one would have been the best entry, but with a little less blue saturation, and a person in the scene. |

Sky is blown out and the horizon is unlevel. May not matter to some people, but that just drives me crazy. I thought it was maybe wide angle distortion thingy going on, but it's tilted perfectly straight. I feel like I'm going to slide off the right side of the pic.
I like the last one better. |

The last and the second look most interesting to me.

All great suggestions and very constructive. Thanks. Now if I can just remember this stuff when editing and choosing a shot.
BTW - I liked the last one as some of you did. If I do it again I will lessen the overall saturation and tone down the blue slightly. Also not add any sharpening as I added very little and it still looks overboard to me. Oh yeah - people, people in the shot! |
