What is the difference between a good photo and what makes a Great photo.

That's an interesting question... there is no cut and dried answer either... what is good/great is completely in the eye of the photographer and then the viewer...
A great photo makes people say WOW. A great photo makes people spend time looking at the image. A great photo inspires wonder. A great photo makes the viewer ask questions. A great photo creates emotion.
A good photo does all of the above to a lesser extent, and may not do all of them :)

I think a great photo has that WOW effect. Sometimes I'll give a high score when I slap myself in the head and think to myself "Why didn't I think of that!". I strongly believe that it has to be technically great (right amount of focus, sharpness, lighting, etc). I personally like bright colours when it's not over done. A nice photo evokes thoughts such as "nice snapshot, cute, neat". I dunno, I guess I just know it's a great photo when I see it.

I agree with the above comments, one image I really like is the 1st Place one in the upside down challenge, it directs the eye as to where it should go and makes you work a bit and think a bit..thanks
