If using the Adobe Bridge (comes with CS2) there are lots of batch processing capabilities. You can even run the same action on a batch of photos. I've done this when I have a bunch of images in PSD or even RAW format but want web size images for an online gallery.

Also, you can select several images in the Bridge, open Camera RAW, then set the conversion options on the first image, synchronize and then let it run through all the images.

I watched the demo for Aperture at PhotoPlus Expo yesterday. Since I don't like Iphoto, I was not expecting a lot. But I was very impressed with what Aperture does in terms of organization. I loved the loupe which allows you to browse similar photos to choose the best one (a job that takes much longer viewing a slide show on Graphic Converter or opening several photos in Photoshop) It seemed to run much faster that Iphoto does for me. Most of their demo photos did not need the photoshop work that mine usually do, but it is definitely designed to run with Photoshop - as it is only one click to move your photo into photoshop for further work or creativity.

I'm hoping to play with it myself sometime today.

Wow.. Kind of ironic really. The program is called "aperture", and the intro page shows a lens with an impossible looking aperture. 50/1.4, my ass.. Hell.. Looks like a zoom even.

what's wrong with a 50/1.4 ? Canon make (or at least used to make) a 50mm f1.0 and still sell a 50mm F1

Ever look into an 85mm 1.2?

Did you get a chance to try it?

I did not make it over to the machines where you could play with it. But I did watch the demos - and it was very fast and easy - with a lot of new features for organizing photos and for screening them.

I just bought the Canon 5D - the RAW images are not readable by my Adobe Photoshop CS. So now I'm wondering if Aperture or CS2 is going to work with them.

However, the software that came with the 5D is MUCH better than the software that came with the 10D - it is professional grade with features similar to CS2 and Aperture.

Aperture includes support for the Canon 5D. See the chart on the right side of THIS page.
