I found that when it comes to CF cards you really do get what you paid for. Originally my CF cards were PQIs, but after a nights work shooting a band in a live environment I got home to find that I was getting a CF card error. I tried many programs but could not recover any of the evenings work. I formatted the card and found it could still be used but I would from time to time get corrupted/lost images. So now I buy Sandisk Ultra II cards which besides being very fast are incredibly reliable and come with a 5 year warranty. Also, as much as it is nice having a lots of storage space witha 2gb card, I tend to take heed of the proverb (dont put all your eggs into one basket) and only go for 1gb cards as a maximum, that way, if a card does die, you (hopefully) wont lose too much work.

I had to send my Lexar 1Gb card back to the manufacturer for a card error.. one day it just stopped working right and would only hold about half the photos it used to hold. It would freeze my camera up as well. I called customer support and we tried reformatting it several different ways but to no avail, so they had me mail it in and they replaced it for me. Contact customer support here and good luck. :)

When I stepped up to my XT I bought a new Lexar 80 X card and took it back right away. I found it was loosing images and I checked on line and that was a problem with the Canon line but apparently it was fixed. They tended to loose data or not store it at all or give some errors. I was told the card I bought was after that and was upgraded, but it still had problems and I wasn't going to take a chance of loosing important pictures one day. But as I say they said that was all fixed and no more problems.

There is a known problem with some Lexar CF cards. I read an article about them in Amateur Photography a few weeks ago, basically there was a dud batch and Lexar will replace free of charge. I will try and find the article as they quoted a set of serial numbers that were affected.

I just had exactly the same error on my 80x 1 gb Lexar card, it fills to about 1/2 full then hangs & locks up the camera. I guess I'll have to send it in also. No idea what the customer support is like here in Germany.
Card is 7 months old & had worked perfectly for 15,000 images.
