Well.

This post is by way of explaining my forum footer to some extent, and why I don't enter many challenges. A few people have asked me what I mean by 'working hack' in my tag line. I've almost finished a fairly typical weekend, and I've got to go to work at my real job tomorrow morning. :-).

Anyway... On with some pics.

Friday after work I do a 50k dash into the city to the Denton Park velodrome to catch a masters cycle sprint competition for the paper at 5:15pm:

6:00 there's a Duathlon starting 20k's away at Prebbleton, and the paper wants that as well...

Righty, home for the night and get some of those edited and off to the paper, and some to the organisers as comps.

Saturday was the Ellesmere A&P show (Agricultral and Pastoral) and I was covering the event for the A&P Society so they have some pics for promotion of future shows, and general records. Down at the A&P grounds at 8am and stayed till 3:30pm. Took around 1200 photos. Lots of variation, crowd shots, a fashion show, shearing, animal breed judging, trade stands, side shows, live entertainment, fairground rides. Oh, and I won three prizes in the photo comp. :-) A few at random:

Then I had to race home, and sort out a BBQ with some friends, where I still managed to pluck up enough interest in the camera to shoot some shots of a friends child for them, print a copy and frame it so they could take it home.

After the late night for the bbq, Our Daughter woke us up again at 7:30am and thankfully I wasn't covering the Dressage event as I was originally going to at 9am so had a rest until my first call at a local club tennis tournament for the paper at 1pm:

Just to cap off a weekend of fun in the sun I then went to the Ellesmere Speedway as well. With the added benefit of dust and noise to roundout a restful weekend:

So now it's 23:54 on Sunday, and I've still got to caption 12 or so images for the paper deadline tomorrow, and backup all the images to CD.

So in the last 48 hours or so I've pushed the shutter button 1800 times, changed lenses I don't know how many times, drunk way too much coffee, and even broke one finger nail. :-).

Now I can't wait for tomorrow morning, a bit of R&R at work! :-).

Cheers, Me (the working hack)

Unfortunately not milage, just per shot printed. The paper industry isn't the right place to make money as a freelancer these days...

I'll post em in a wee while, I'll have to find the photo I took of the photo competition display to figure out which ones they were!

I entered 7 and got at least three prizes, but as I was so busy during the day I only know one of the ones that got a prize as the model/subject told me he was really happy to have come first.. And that was a portrait in the B&W section.

Cheers, Me.
