Search feature's not working for me, so I started a new thread.
I really like this filter that I first noticed on Jutilda's photo...

I've been trying it out. Here's an example.

What do you think?

Quite honestly, I don't see much difference between the two. The one with the filter applied looks better in the foreground area (warmer and exposure/lighting isn't as harsh). Maybe this image isn't suited for the filter?

I was thinking about trying this filter myself. Has anyone determined yet whether it's legal or not for open (basic editing) challenges? I'm thinking not since it's a special effects filter...

I've been trying it on everything just for a goof. Some are definitely improved, others not. I certainly like Jutilda's photo (added it to my favorites!) Anyway, I do like the filter! :)

I have always "assumed" that the gothic glow plugin isnt legal but i just looked at the "gothic glow General interest" steps and i dont see anything that would be illegal to use for basic. Unless the select BG is illegal. Its all gaussian blur and layers and a high pass.

I will continue to assume it is illegal until we are told it isnt...maybe a SC can tell us if it is or isnt legal?

It's not illegal in advanced editing.

That's been answered several times...it's legal for advanced, not for basic. :)

The very first thing after it duplicates the current layer is set the layer mode to "Multiply", so it is definitely not a legal "set of steps" you can do to an image under Basic since all layers much be applied in Normal mode.

Not sure why you had problems searching; it has been discussed many time before...

Thanks for the link. I tried search again and it worked this time. It seems to work intermittently for me! It's beyond my capability of understanding such matters. Sorry.
