I just got back from Virginia. After years of living in the desert, I have to admit the trees are gorgeous. Here's a few of my shots. Let me know what you think. I'll pay back comments over the next few days.

Thanks. Becky

Left you a comment on each. Nice photos.

Thanks, Justin.

I appreciate the comments... you touched on things I wasn't seeing, but would make some improvements.

The sheep was a natural catch, and moved out of the sun before I could snap another shot. S/he is munching dinner in the backyard of a home in Colonial Williamsburg.

I appreciate the insight.

Great shots Becky!

Virginia really is a great place (I'm a native Virginian myself). It has mountains, beaches, flatlands, marshes, arid areas, cities, farmland, and forests - just about everything you could want in a vacation or home, including a rich and varied history.

Glad you had such a good visit and hope you come back soon! Share more of your shots!!!

Thanks. It was a wonderful relaxing trip with my husband and camera. We flew into Dulles Airport, then headed to the Shenandoah National Park and drove a good portion of the Skyline Dr. I've rarely seen so many trees. The lookouts each had fantastic views and I think we stopped at 30 or more. We stayed in the Big Meadow Lodge, then hiked down Dark Hollow to catch some of the falls. Even the deer came up to greet us. A fawn came by our stopped car, waited while I changed lenses and then posed about 10 feet from me.
We drove the back roads to Colonial Williamsburg and spent a few days absorbing the history and also seeing Jamestown. I was even able to watch some glass blowing and caught some interesting views.

The last couple of days we headed north and explored DC. The monuments at night were wonderful, the museums put me in overload and navigating the roads near rush hours will not be forgotten.
I filled up the remaining space on the hard drive on my laptop and had to bring the rest of the shots home to process. I've managed to foul up one of the CF's and have over 100 shots I'm going to try to rescue. I remember a posting on some recovery software that might help. If anyone has it marked, I'd appreciate a hand.
As I work on the shots, I'll post more.
As always, comments are appreciated and frankness is valued. I'll return comment for comment besides.

I love D.C. Any good architecture shots?

I got a few nice monument shots, but not architecture. The day we did the most exploring was flat and gray, so I didn't try much. Instead, I explored inside the museums. Since they won't let tripods inside, I had to make do with the monopod. It helped, but I lost more than I wanted to.

Justin, I've posted some comments to you less-viewed shots in your portfolio. Thanks again.

Thanks so much, those were some recently uploaded photos that I've been wanting some feedback on and your comments are much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to do so.

I look forward to seeing more photos from your trip.

Also looking forward to more shots of your trip. Would love to go to that area, and maybe even stay. :-)

Thanks, Tim. I'll comment on some of your shots later tonight. Let me know if you have any specific shots you'd like me to look at.

The sheep shot is naturally lit that way (dusk with patchy sun - the sheep cooperated and stood in the sun for a moment.) I did my post processing on a laptop which can give some funky colors - I'll fix the back end of the sheep. Thanks for the comments.

I'll post more over the week.

Great shots! Wish we had known you were coming to VA, you were only a few miles from us, and we would have loved the chance to visit with you. Give a shout next time you visit our area!

Tsheets - I left you some comments in your portfolio.

Linda - I thought about posting about the trip, but I didn't want to intrude on lives. Now I wish I had. Thanks for the offer. It's hard to believe how kind people can be. I will let you know if I ever make it back that way.

Here are a couple more shots of the National Park. I do love that place!

Is that near you? We are going to be in Lexington/Natural Bridge area on the 18th. 'Course, we'll be travelling with the in-laws and a pre-schooler and infant, so be warned. ;)
