I was in the same boat last night and was very frustrated with a score in the low 4s, but then woke up this morning to 4 comments. I may not see what all of the commenters see, but I am gratefull for those who took the time....I'm sure you will get hit with some soon. Hang in

It's only been two days. Give it some time. People sort out the bin first then come back and comment :) Hang tight!

I have had only four comments. My favorite: This just looks like a dirty kitchen. The good news - I am not married to her! I have only one comment in the Corner of the World. I think with so many challenges now a lot of people don't take much time to make comments.

I'm guilty of not commenting on very many....only if I think I have something constructive to say, rather than 'I like it' or 'I don't really like it' etc. In my opinion, only useful feedback is worth giving.

By the way, I've had 144 votes and only 3 comments.

If you see my profile:

You'll see why I became frustrated commenting on almost every entry when I started and received very few comments in return.
Now I chose only to comment the shots that appeal to me somehow.

I have voted 100% and commented on 31% so far. It IS frustrating to see the vote count go up, see your score and still not know what people are thinking.

ace flyman, I'm no expert either, just try to be honest and point out what I like.

rikki11, That is exactly how I do this. I do all my voting, then come back with comments. There have been numerous occasions that I actually bump up score because I see something I didn't see the first time through.

With more people entering challenges you will get fewer comments. The best answer is to comment more yourself. I find that after I get a few comments I'm more inspired to leave a few more comments myself. I try to leave as many as I can, but just voting on every picture is pretty time consuming.

I agree! I voted and commented on 100% ofa large challenge recently and it took me hours. Hoewever I did enjoy it and there was a great feeling of satisfaction at the end.

Mind you I am pretty disheartened about commenting when out of 295 votes on the two current challenges I have only three comments and one of those appears to doubt I took my pic in a coffee shop! (I did).

I will probably comment on as many as possible of coffee shop this w/e and hope I get some productive ones back!

Well the comment about not being in a coffee shop is still valid. One of your viewers can't see the coffee shop. That's good to understand. What could you have done differently to convey your message? Or maybe it's just a cultural thing?

I had a very similar experience in the Bubble challenge. Check out the descrption and the comments. One thing I learned was that perhaps I needed a more blunt title to convey my message. Or someone suggested using a flash to get traditional bubbles and the long exposure bubbles together. So I still learned. Even though its hard when people say "where are the bubbles" and you're like "ummm RIGHT THERE!" heheh

I think it was cultural as the scene was in a coffee shop but not in an obvious one like Starbucks. I just think it was funny (hilarious) they bothered to judge it on whether I had used a set up raather than the real thing!

I did not enter this challenge, and haven't begun to vote (and may not get to vote on it either) but if anyone would like an objective comment, I'd be happy to oblige. Just PM me your photo number (from the URL of your entry) and I'll leave an honest piece of feedback.

it's good to know i'm in good company...the "coffee shop scores" thread was really getting me down, with people getting comments in the teens and twenties! i've gotten eight, which is actually my all time high at this point for a challeng. i'm hoping that it will keep going up before the end, with lots of constructive feedback. the ones i have received have really been helpful! (thanks, guys!)

i posted (hopefully) constructive comments from a mediocre photographer (moi) on every image in this challenge. i figure, the only way i'm going to get more constructive feedback is to provide constructive feedback to others and get the whole synergy thing going! my goal for this website is not to get a certain score or ribbon...it's to get meaningful feedback and provide meaningful feedback to others. (although, a great score or a ribbon or a top # finish would be pretty darn awesome! who am i kidding!)
