Yet again I have another question...
I've been looking online at lens reviews and what not trying to find a lens for indoor basketball at the college level...NAIA to be more specific. I plan on shooting from the baseline(under the net), and more than likly the lighting won't be spectacular. I was looking at the canon 50 f1.4 USM, but after reading reviews it seems like it isnt that great.
In fact if there is anyone here that has experience with this lens for action shots PLEASE let me know what you think.

I am trying to see what other options there are out there, possibly with sigma. I don't want to spend an arm, a leg, and my first born child on a lens, so that rules out the canon L series. Any advice, suggestions, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and just as a side note, i dont plan on using a 20d when shooting.

I bought a 50 f/1.4 in hopes of using it for basketball. It works well as long as you can manually focus your shot, which is incredibly difficult with moving subject at f/1.4. A ball player moving towards you will get inside your depth of field in a big hurry.

I have best results with my 24-70 f/2.8 and a flash.

A flash may or may not be necessary depending on your available light, but a low powered fill flash (-1 or -1 1/3 stops) will improve your image quality quite a bit.

I find the autofocus too slow on this lens to be effective. I wasn't able to consistently manually focus for sports action with it either.
