I feel like a kid on Christmas! I'm so excited..I just bought a brand new lens to add to my collection! The Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 and I can't wait to start using it!!!

Just wanted to share the news since no one here at work is excited with me! haha

Yee HAW! I'm excited for you! I love that lens! It does SUCH a good job for me. Be sure to try some shots with it zoomed out to 28mm and focused IN as close as it will go, and get right down into the graden, dude. It's fun! It's a semi-macro-semi-wide-angle torpedo with an attitude.

Of course, I mostly do that with my 10-22mm now, and it has even MORE of an attitude :-)

I have that lens and so far have been very happy with it. Looking forward to hearing how you like it.

Can I ask a silly question? Is there a way to shoot with the lens NOT all the way open?

Tested the difference between the XR Di and the std Canon kit lens.
Same scene, Tamron set to 55mm (max on kit lens), exposed at F5.6 (wide open on kit lens) and again at F2.8 (wide open on Tamron).

Difference was only slight:
1/30sec vs. 1/125sec - LOL

Those couple extra stops really let a lot of light in. Sharp sucker too!

Of course; set your camera to aperture-priority mode and dial in whatever aperture you wish to use.

I can't seem to figure out how to do it...the ring on the lens is locked in at 32 and when I move it, all I get is FEE in the window (I'm guessing that's an error)

ummm, try changing the aperture setting on the camera itself, while either in manual mode, or aperture priority mode?

That I can do...I can change the apeture in manual mode...but the ring on the lens has to be at 32...I don't get what that is???
