Ok its 8:25 am on Saturday and we are still doing good. We still have power and cable services. No flooding, but we do have a lot of little branches scattered all over our yard. No damage to the house at all.

But my sister inlaws house is with out power just 4 miles away, other than no power they are doing good.

James

Hope everything continues to to go good for you James. Take care.

Hello all. Houston really lucked out this time. I live on the NW side. We had tropical storm force wind for 3-4 hrs and about half an inch of rain. No damage to the house and we never lost electricity. People to the east of us Haven't been so lucky. It sounds as if Lake Charles may be in pretty bad shape. If this storm had stayed on the track predicted on Wednesday it would have been devastating to the Houston area. Yes, the evacuation traffic was horrible but they still managed to evacuate 2.5 million people before the hurricane hit. I'm amazed the evacuation went as well as it did.

We're beginning to get the outer bands of clouds way up here already... I took these while driving home from work, through a filthy windshield of course, but the sky was really changing pretty quickly so I wanted to grab a few snaps. This farm-to-market road heads due north, so you can imagine these clouds rolling in from the NE pretty quickly...these two snaps were taken about 2 miles and 2 minutes apart.

Those are good pictures, BUT I hope you were a passenger in the car and not the driver. From the viewpoint of the pictures, they were taken from a moving vehicle. Taking photographs while driving is quite dangerous, especially when, as one of the pictures shows, there is an oncoming truck in the opposite lane. At least pull over to the shoulder and stop before taking the pictures.

Aww, thanks for your concern. I was driving, but at least I hung up my cell phone before I took them. ;)

I live in North Houston, got lots of wind, but very little rain. I did lose power for 12 hours. I am very worried about the Lake Charles area, as that is my home town, most of my family and friends are there. I have been unable to get through to any one as of yet.

Good luck to you and the folks in the direct path.

Just heard from Sher - 2 Tornadoes, one overheard less than an hour ago.
Weather is pretty bad there evidently - lots of rain.
She said something about collecting up animals 2 by 2....jk
