I didn't submit to the office art challenge (the first one I've ever missed) because I just couldn't come up with an original idea. Then, just last night, when it was too late to set it up, I came up with this one: using dry ice to create a rolling mist and fog effect, place a stapler (or something like that) so that it is definitely surrounded by fog. The title? "They were beautiful, those staplers in the mist." With the right lighting and background, I think it could have done well! Oh well, time to move on, I suppose.

*bump* No one has any input on this idea?

Its an interesting idea, easy to picture but perhaps harder to pull off... are you going to try and do it anyway? It'd be interesting if you could pull of what you imagine it to look like.

I agree that it is a worthy idea. With that title it would at the very least be an amusing piece, and like you said, if the lighting is right it could be a great one!

do it with the stapler in the top right corner and enter it in the "off-center" challenge. :)

I'm not getting it. I feel like I should get the title, but it's not connecting... :-( Maybe you could explain the reference and jog my memory.

Think of the movie called "Gorillas in the Mist" with Sigorney Weaver. It was about Dian Fossey, the famous gorilla researcher.

(Gary Larson also did a spoof of this with his "Chickens in the Mist" cartoon.)

I agree with ScottK. I dont get the title. I like the idea and hope you shoot it, it would probably come out cool. But I dont understand the reference. Could you explain.

Sounds cute, but my older brother always said, "Never try to explain a joke". If they don't get it in the first place, it won't be funny if you explain it to them, either.

My wife says I have a problem being to literal. And it's all to true. Alot of jokes I just plain miss because I take things so straight on. I have become the joke many times because someone would say some funny quip or reference and I would be lost. Probably why my some of my friends call me data (geekey star trek reference) Ahh well, it does seem much more amusing with the movie in mind. lol

Ah! I knew the "...in the Mist" was familiar - just didn't connect for some reason. So, back to your idea - woulda been kind of wacky, kinda unusual, but if captured well might have done good. If you had done the stapler, you might have gotten overshadowed, so to speak, by some of the stapler/staple-raper shots - which were good, but apparently common, ideas.
