Hello,

I am a recent member to dpchallenge.com I have been doing digital photography for the past few years, especially on my extensive travels. For the last two months I have worked hard on developing my online digital portfolio at //www.simantini.com Please visit my web site and vote on your top 3 prioritized favorite photo(s) and mention why you liked them, provide suggestions for taking better pictures, or comment on how to make the web site better, preferrably through the online form (under the Contacts tab), or by writing to me at comments@simantini.com.

I will keep updating the web site every few months. So please visit often for new photos and travel news.

Thank you in advance and I look forward to getting your critique and comments on my web site and photos...

I spent awhile browsing your site, which I quite like. Clean, clear navigation. Very nicely and intuitively organized. Wonderful photography. You should be proud of it!

simantini -- I am going to move this thread into one of the photography discussions. I think it may get more exposure there. If this is a problem, please pm me!

Overall very nice images, my only comment is that a couple of your landscapes had crooked horizons. Other than that they look pretty nice!! Well done!

Hey, that's a really nice site? Did you do it yourself?

#37 is my fave, I didn't pick 2 others, sorry.

It really draws the eye in and has great depth of field. Fine work.

And the site is great too.. the only drawback is the waiting time for it to load, but its worth it.

gathering storm is the one i thought was crooked, allso one of favs, but on second look it may not be, some of others I think it is becasue of the curves and lines in the photos.

Really beautiful photography. A couple of minor distractions IMHO, but I'm certainly no expert! I think the site is pretty clean and easy to navigate, but had trouble determining what "voting on my favorites" really entailed. Was it that I was supposed to list the titles in my comments or that I was supposed to comment on it when it was displayed on a background window?

You've got some great stuff there - and the music suits your style. It takes too long to load (my only real complaint from a QA perspective), but once it does, it flows very smoothly from image to image. You might consider a different 'splash' or 'loading' page that includes an explaination for the delay.

Overall though - very nice work. Something I'd certainly be pleased to have representing myself. :-)

Just my 2 cents... [PM me for change if you think it's warranted!]

Hello all,

Thank you for your comments on my web site and photos. I am glad that you have enjoyed the photos. I am flattered that many people have e-mailed me and mentioned that they will bookmark my site and visit every few months for upates! :)

What would be helpful to me is a commentary on:
1. If you like a particular photograph, why do you like it - lighting, composition, technique etc.
2. If you hate a photograph or think that it is mediocre, pointers on what to do to improve it - exposure, lenses etc.

Thanks again.

Top 5 favorites thus far, in case if anyone is interested...

Based on all the responses and e-mails that I have received thus far, the following 5 photos have been voted as top 5 thus far:
1. Sands of Time (overwhelming majority)
2. Introspection
3. The World Below = Gathering Storm ( a tie)
5. Endless View = The Spiral Staircase (a tie)

Do you agree? :)

simantini,

beautiful photography and a very well developed website. The site is probably one of the few that I have seen recently that did a great job using music as part of the experience. Just out of curiousity, what is the music? Is it available somewhere?

What sort of steps did you go through to develop the site?

Thanks!

Matthew
