I have a couple of shots where the highlights are just too hot...

Does anyone have any tricks to reduce the impact of the overly hot (almost blown) highlights

This tutorial is good for that. I made a couple of Photoshop actions to run the steps automatically. I don't think it would be legal in Basic.

You can use just the "Highlight" portion of the actions, which I often do.

That's a neat tutorial. Does anyone know how to do this in the GIMP?
