Hi all,
just hoping I could get some feedback from the DPC community. Trying to put together a website, and was hoping to refine a bit more. Its still in the early stages, but am hitting a point where some criticism/suggestions will help push it to the point of being complete.
site is at: //www.davidmctavish.com
many thanks,
d.

I'm not a fan of splash screens.
Doesn't that gallery need to be credited to the original developer?
Nice photos. |

I really like the functionality of the site. The enlarged rollovers work well. You seem to have an erroneous character after the "home" button showing up in the left nav when you scroll to the bottom of the nav. Also, I think that your copyright statement is too large - try reducing the font size. And I think that your offset name in the page headers (david mctavish: photography) would look better with the red line completely under it. One last thing I would recommend in the left nav is that the home button align with the left margin of the rest of the nav options (currently it's shifted too far to the right).
I like the overall feel of the site and it looks professionally done (IMHO). Good work. I think with a few minor tweaks it could be even better. :-)

The flower on the front page is nice, but not v sharp and thus not giving an accurate first impression (IMO). It's be really cool if you could have a changing background image on the front, maybe cycling thru about 4-5 of your best images. It'd be easy enough to do.
The portfolio page could be centered for consistency with the front page.
I like the flash browser thing. It's handy for navigation. Maybe a slide show would be good too since you have a lot of pics in each category.
If you are going to use this to get work you might want to include a blurb and more contact details, and/or a contact form for user convenience.
Maybe consider how the page will fit on common user screen sizes and resolutions. i.e. some people may not scroll down to see your details.
hope that helps.
