GO OUT AND TAKE PHOTOS! WORK ON YOUR CRAFT!!

If you can pick these people out they had best go and work more on their 'talent'.

The mere fact that they have managed to garner ribbons would tend to suggest that they do at least possess a modicum of talent.

If you take the time to review all of the submissions made by Bear and then tell me he has a definite "style" then you sir must possess unbelievable talents.

Seems sad that you seem to begudge him his ribbon...

Some times people only think they have the photographer identified.

Some times people are wrong. ;^)

I'm going to guess (I haven't looked - honest) that many thought it was Zoomdak's. It's a different rock...ok, now I'll go look (hope I don't eat crow). ;^)

i WANT to develop a recognizable style! i would love to take photos that when people look at them they immediately think, "oh, that's a Sher photo." that's the first step on the road to being famous. ;)

In researching the winning patterns of the High Contrast ribbon placers I've uncovered the following....

I wasn't actualy refering to any of those, nor bear_music, whom, I'm sorry but I haven't really noticed him till a couple of days ago, I was refering people who win over and over again doing:

1- the same image every time
2- being verry popular in the forum (aka people talk about them like they are some sort of gods).

I mean let's be honest for a second here, and then we can joke and be foolish again, I am a member for over 2 years here, and so are many others. i am not here to make friendships and therefore I only made one friend, Tiberius because we share a nationality and a few other things. A few times I showed him my image in the challenge over YM, and he goes "I gave you a 10." I told him he shouldn't do that, cuz I want my score whatever it is to be clean. I hope he gave it what the image deserved not what I deserved because we are buddies. Anyways it doesn't matter much 1 guy's vote.
My point is that after being here a couple of years, I seen others in much larger numbers that me and Tiberius, that are obviously verry good pals, and I belive, alot of 10's are produced that way. Add to that the fact that even I can recognize librodo's same image over and over again, Heida's same old burns and dodges (tho I mistaken there a few times), and a few others, but that's theyr problem. If they gave up imagination for ribbons it's certainly not my problem.
When the color portrait will be over, i will show you that I verry much followed the DPC winner recipee, but it doesn't seem to work without every second commenter saying my name. I posted it on a photography forum for test before, and I got overwealmed by comments and votes there, on a site where there are no gangs. I will show you that too.
I am not sure that what I'm saying is true but I have reasons to belive that.

Maybe it's just me not really relating to this site's stile. I don't wanna brag, but all my images that were published in magazines and won much more important contests, never do well here. Looks like whatever I am trying I'm stuck in the 6's. It gets frustrating after a while and when you see how easy others get the 8's over and ovcer again, and always the best images in a challenge, shots where people try to make something diferent, something with 3 dimentions not just 2, none of those ever make more than top 50 or so, and when you look at the comments and you see every 2'nd commenter naming the "anonymous" photographer allow me to have some doubts. After all it is just my opinion. I didn't hit anyone in the head with it. I just feel that that's what's going on. I payed 25$ same as anyone else. Can I say what's on my mind on that price, or do I only have to always be nice to the DPC gods?

Thanks.

Ok...I was right on the Zoomdak comments and a different photog's photo, still not sure about whether it's the same rock or not (same beach it appears).

Now, you did have Oregon in the title, and this challenge entry was just after Zoomdak had 2 Blue Ribbons and 1 Top Ten in the weeks preceeding...it's almost like you wanted people to think it was Zoomdak?

So, I'm not sure if I still need a small piece of crow based on it being the right rock or not? If yes, a drumstick will do. Thanks! ;^)

For once it's nice not to be in the middle of controversy...

Gosh people, have fun, live life a little less stressful, go out and shoot with your passion for the love of photography, and not for statistics and subsequent fighting over little sh*t. It's only driving people away - people, experienced or not, right or wrong, opinionated or not, yet still people we all can learn from and enjoy their lives and passion for a common bond that brought us all together here in the first place.

Funny thing is, Lesley (goodman) really sums it up best in her Bio:

"you wont find me whining about my score,
i like tagging along most times.

this site is about having fun isn't it?"

Now the horse is dead - quit beating it!!
(directed at no one specifically either)

...I disagree - think you are making a large assumption here. Even if true, it's ok for you and not for others?

Can you provide examples? You make it sound a bit more rampant than it is. Of course, that is just my opinion.

Absolutely, say what you will. You do have that right and I'm sorry if you feel that right is being supressed somehow. You also have to be ready to take some heat when it's insinuated that others are playing unfairly. Just my 2 cents, ok maybe it's more like $1.00 worth - or perhaps worthless depending on your point of view. ;^)

I wish I was as "unrecognizable" as you then! :-) Although you throw me off now and then and that's a good thing. :-D **Hugs for Sher!!**

I agree with you that some people are more popular than others (as in life), and sometimes photographers can be spotted in the contest.

Is it really worth stressing over? Only if you are the kind of person who would complain to the teacher that you were picked last in the playground football team because others were less skillful but more popular than you. And you should expect the same response as you would have received from the "teacher" now.

[I was often picked last for playground football teams, but never complained and thankfully learnt a lesson from it (sport is bad)...]
