I was out shooting this morning and happened to notice in processing the RAW files that my time stamp was retarded 12 hours, so my shots showed as being made yesterday evening. So I gulped and went to check the EXIF on my High Contrast entry, which I shot at dawn on the 29th, the first day of the challenge. Sure enough, it was stamped at 6PM of the evening before (the 28th) and not 6AM of the 29th.

So a challenge timeframe violation is imminent.

I bid a fond farewell to my ribbon, sigh...

This was my first validation off the 20D, and I hadn't noticed the stamp was off by 12 hours. It's been that way since I first started shooting with it. Fixed now.

That's a bummer, Bear. But you still have the most important thing - the shot itself :-)

Looked like a great morning.

Aw shucks, too bad bear. But hey, you know what? You proved you could get another a ribbon, who needs to keep it? :-)

Yah, it's no big deal. Only bummer was I was at least putatively qualified for the next Masters challenge, if they ever have one, LOL. Gotta have 2 ribbons for that, right?

Life goes on though.

Sorry to hear about that Robert. A very nice and well executed photograph. I loved the colors and reflections. Hope you re-upload to your portfolio. A picture worth framing.

Dag gummit Bear! Why'd you have to go and do a silly thing like that?! ;^) I really enjoyed (still do) your entry and was very happy to see it do so well. Perhaps you will find a wonderful 'Destination'?

The worst part is this means danged Manny gets ANOTHER ribbon, LOL...

(The above is tongue-in-cheek, in case anyone wonders)

DAMN DAMN DAMN!!! I hollared and told my g/f at 115am that "The 'Bear-man' got a ribbon!" I hate it for you man, but hey...you have THE ribbon....the print and satisfaction that you made the shot.

Sorry about the ribbon, Robert but its a great picture, which all the voters agreed on and who cares what date the camera said or even when it was taken!

Keep smiling!

OH NO!!! :-(

Well, it'll be a ribbon winner in our hearts for sure. It's truly beautiful.

And echoing a previous statement, a print of this shot would be very nice to have in the living room.

Darn! What a disappointment. That happened to me too when I got my 20D, but fortunately, I discovered it before I took a shot that was on the bubble.

Doh, very sorry to hear this. =/ Have it as one of my favs too!

Speaking of which, if you take a photo the same hour a challenge starts and lets say you are not EST time, would you also be DQ's for time stamp as it was earlier than the servers time? I only ask because I notice I have never seen a photo entered within the first couple hours of a challenge starting. (Besides the fact that people don't have time, are sleeping, need to perfect their image!)

Just a thought.

we do take time zone into account when considering an image's exposure date.

Hey Bear sorry to hear. I knew it was your shot. Judging by the comments during the challenge, most everyone else did too.

I am so sorry to hear that Robert.

Bear sorry to hear that bud! Just goes to show how often we forget to check until it's too late. It's still a great image like I said :)

And BradP, congrats on your top 10 now :)

That's a bummer. I was excited to see a color shot in the top 3. Well, you can keep the ribbon in your heart right?
09/12/2005 11:45:39 AM · #25
Ah man, that sucks!!! Ah well, the fact that you earned a virtual ribbon is *almost* as good as having a virtual ribbon, right?

Great photo, at least you have that!!
