You know what I am finding interesting? There was some talk about the winners here all being of a "good-looking" nature. Well, I for one, hold my standards a bit higher than that, and I am sure many people here do as well. But I am seeing regardless, that these "good-looking, handsome" natured photos are fairing pretty well in my scoring, and it is not soley because the subjects are "good-looking"
I am wondering if this would have anything to do with confidence of the subject for one, and/or the photographers confidence. |

| My sumission is running at 7.2, but there are at least five shots that ought to finish above mine. There are some very good shots here and I will be happy to finish out of the ribbons but finally crack the 7 barrier if it finishes as it is running now. |

I just wanted to thank you guys for your hard work with the comments. Gotten comments from quite a few of you in this thread with great observations and advice - my image is not that great hangin in at a 4.7 but it's the first portrait of a person I have ever shot so this was a great learning experience for me. Seen alot of people taking critiques kinda to heart I for one just wanted you to know their appreciated by someone!

| I am not doing as well as I thought I would be I am happy with the photo. I gave out one 10. I saw 10 to 15 really good portraits. I also want to thank everyone for their comments, they really do help. |

I get the feeling Slippy's pumping out a high 3, to a low 4 score.
I can't be sure but knowing a little about his sense of humor

Comments have generally been excellent! I have had a couple of people who usually score 6 - 7's tell me it should be top five material then I just got a comment from someone who has never entered a challenge before tell me it is out of focus! lol..go figure! |

I think of it this way... the 5.5 is split into two scores. A 10 for the equiptment I used (28-200 2.8L) and a 1 for me as a photographer. Average? 5.5 LOL. That's what I need for a perfect 10! get it? L series on a "O" lens coupled by another L. Just joking... haha Thanks for the comments, all are great, but seems that the people that scored me low didn't leave coments. Please coment... |

I've been gone for awhile, but this is how I relate to my scores:
3.0 to 4.5 -- not too good
4.6 to 4.9 -- could be better
5.0 to 5.4 -- fair
5.5 to 5.9 -- good
6.0 to 6.9 -- nice!
7.0 to 10.0 -- w00h00! (never got this far, lol)
There's a lot of competition too. So I would caution folks (especially our newest members) to not sweat the score too much. I always look forward to comparing my photo to those around it after voting is done. Usually it's ranked pretty appropriately.
I know it's hard to watch that 4.x score but try to keep it in perspective! Another thing I do is go and look at some of my favorite photographers. They usually have some sub 5 scores too, so you're in good company.
Ok lets see if I can take my own advice after voting starts on perspective, lol.

So far, so good, for my first challenge with a 4.8, especially after viewing the great talent in this challenge.
I have a newbie question, I know what I like in a photo, and feel comfortable commenting about it, but it is harder to define in words what I don't like. Also, being so new, "what the hell do I know"!
Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks
