It's been quite awhile since we've heard from the mentors of the portrait group. I've sent email, but not heard anything back. I sure don't want to push anyone out, but is there anyone else interested in helping this group? I'd hate to see it die down.
I don't feel like I have the experience to mentor the group. Anyone else from the group have some ideas?

For whatever it's worth, I know I just recently read the "Portrait" mentorship forum threads and learned a lot. I also realized that in trying to prepare an entry for the upcoming challenge, I was in dire need of assistance!
Please don't let it die - Sherri & Artyste (I think they were running it), are y'all still giving classes? ;-)

Sorry guys. I've got a lot on my plate in my life right now, and DPC has taken a real back seat to it. I'm sort of out of a job right now and scrambling to find work, and trying to make some major decisions, so just don't have the attention span or energy to contribute anymore. I got your email jpochard, but just couldn't deal with it at that point and then forgot. Sorry.
As for Sher, I can't speak for her, but I imagine the chaos down there has limited her time severely as well. I hope someone can stand up and take over for the mentorship, but it seems to me most of the mentorship threads have had their time in the sun now and are falling off. It's a *lot* of work.
Also.. I do have on tip for y'all for the Color Portrait challenge (I won't be entering.. no blue shirt), find an asian girl and drape a scarf over her head ;)

i liked the mentor group as well and i hope we can revive it. but as for my suggestion, since portraiture is such a broad topic, i think i would appreciate the assignments more if they were more broad and we could kind of do our own thing. like assignments such as color portrait, black and white portrait, full body portrait...maybe things like that. but that's just me, and im definitely not qualified to govern the assignments

I hope things work out for you. There certainly are times when real life gets in the way of enjoying this hobby! |
