Cool Beans! Nov. 12th works for me. Eden wants to come too! She's still lurking around here but I talked to her today and she wants to join us. Blue Ridge is beautiful. We stayed in a cabin up there awhile back but it wasn't during the fall. I bet it's gorgeous during this time of year!!! The little blue ridge train ride is nice too. :-)

I'm not real familiar with the timeline of the leaves changing over... This won't be too late will it?

It might be too late for the foliage, but it's always hard to tell. I hope there's something left of Helen by the 12th - their Oktoberfest ends the weekend before. Count me in!

I sense a bit of dejavu with this list. ;-)

So Blue Ridge or Helen, is that the question?

Ahh once all the others see what they are missing out on they will join. I say Helen. I will call up there this afternoon and see if they have everything good to go.

Hi Rex. I may be available to make that. I'll be back in the US at the very end of October, and up in DC the second week. (roughly) So I maybe could swing in on the way back down to Florida.

OK, thread watched.

Please do, but just in pencil for now. A lot of things are still in the air at the moment.

Can I throw a vote in for Blue Ridge?? I've never been to Helen so I can't say what it's like, but there are some great mountains and valleys in Blue Ridge with lots of trees from what I can remember. I'm not picky though, I'll just go along with the crowd. :-)

I went on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway and wasn't really impressed with it. If I can find a good place to meet and do a long walk then maybe we can meet there....I also want to check out Barnsley Gardens in Adairsville, GA

Mopre links for Barnsley Gardens:

//ngeorgia.com/lodging/barnsley_gardens.html

//www.barnsleyresort.com/

I also am trying to keep in mind that it would be ideal to park and walk most of the day. I am not sure Blue Ridge or anything for that matter would offer that....any thoughts?

Yeah, you're probably right about the parking and walking thing. I'll leave it up to you guys as I'm not familiar with N.GA. My husband and sons will most likely be coming along as we'll probably make a weekend of it, photo time on Saturday and family time on Sunday so we'll probably be looking for lodging wherever we end up going. :-)

Anybody have any ideas besides Helen, GA?
10/05/2005 02:44:37 PM · #39
I'm afraid that's more your neck of the woods. I went to the apple festival a few years ago, but before that I was a kid panning for gold in Dahlonega.

Besides, I already screwed up with the parade, so I'll stay out of the decision making on this one.

I think Helen is the best bet for a good walk around place.

What do you mean you screwede up the parade thing? That was a great idea we all got some great shots.

Ummmmm Heeeelloooooo.... The parade was an awesome (excuse the cliche 80's exclamation) idea. I loved it!!

Hi guys, I'm lurking again! Elemess the parade was fun, brought back fond childhood memories for me. Any one heard of Blairsville Ga? Would love to come along whatever you all decide.

Ok I called a Bed & Breakfast in Helen. The news kinda blew the whole tornado thing out of porportion and everything is good up there. The bed and breakfast I called if anyone is interested in staying there here is the link:

//www.helenga.org/hilltophaus/
Her price is about $120 a night and a full breakfast is included.

If not you can probably find a lot of info here:

//www.helenga.org/

So we are on for Helen, GA on Novemeber 12th. Now just to figure out a place to meet in Helen.

Unfortunately I just inked a business deal this week and it looks like I'm gonna be busy on the 12th. The business event may be moved to another weekend but for now I'm sad to say that we won't be able to enjoy everyone's company in Helen.

Thanks, James, for keeping me in the loop on this.

I'm afraid I'll have to back out as well. My travel plans have changed, and I won't arrive in the US untill the 10th or 11th, and it's straight to work after that.

Thanks for the pm Rex. I'm still in!

:-(

Ok sorry but now I can't make it. In laws are coming up that Friday and will be here all weekend.....if anyone wants to make it another weekend then I can surely do that but NOT the 12th of November.
10/17/2005 06:39:15 PM · #48
Shall we shoot for Saturday, Nov. 5th folks? I think if we wait later we may miss the good fall colors. But either way it'll be nice to get together to shoot regardless. :-)
10/17/2005 07:24:43 PM · #49
I say the 19th
10/18/2005 12:03:04 AM · #50
I believe the 19th will work for me. Just have to check with my other half to be sure. :-)
