arrgg...ok, *usually* a homeowners/renters policy will cover that which is not covered by another policy (ie, if your auto policy covered the theft, your homeowners wouldn't let you collect a 2nd time).

Mine mainly consisted of me running around like crazy trying to finish getting the house unpacked for our first party. House looked good, I was exhausted, party went well except for the part where I forgot to get hamburger buns and had to beg them off neighbors. Finished the night ripping up the basement carpet, drying off the electronics and mopping/toweling/vacuuming up a flood of biblical proportions, thanks to the drain backing up. Woo!

I believe things stolen from your vehicle are generally covered by homeowners first anyway, aren't they?

Depends - I had a camera stolen from my truck several years ago - and a window broken. Auto covered the window, home owners the camera - but that would have meant paying two deductables, so the insurance guy put it all on the one with the higher deductable (forgot which that was). My policies are at the same company which helped that situation.

it all depends on the policy. mine says it will pay if not covered by something else.
