Well you never know. I once spent several hours on a subject and then just before I gave up something caught my eye. I quickly bent over and snaped it. It's my highest score here. *sigh* |

This shot is really incredible. I love the background yellows almost as much as I love the twisting metal.

Thank YOU, Drew. I have a feeling that the matting is playing a role here. Are simple mats going to be allowed in the DPC2?
John, your work is inspiring as always.

I just hope that whatever people choose as their subject it looks better than a snapshot.
Work on the technical aspects like lighting, composition, depth of field creative cropping, etc, etc.
Seems like so many photos have turned into snapshots with flat compositions, straight on shoots, poor lighting and flash and no real concern for technique just to fulfill the challenge. <:-[/i]
sometimes it's hard for images to look like the photographer took effort in technique... particularly with shoddy equipment. for instance... this challenge I tried 3 different light sources (a flashlight, a candle, and a lava lamp.. it has a great color...) from no less than 20 angles and it still looks like I just grabbed my camera and shot blindly... [/i]
Try shooting macro wildlife and you wont get that feel from your shot ,but it is alot harder. maybe thats why it wont look like a snap shot. try to get a shot of something that you wont see with the normal eye. like a portrait of a spiders face or something |

The current plan is for DPC2 to allow solid-color borders and unconstrained aspect ratios (but a maximum size limit in both pixels and kb). |
