Well, wait a second...for the sake of argument, if what he was presenting was an actual observation how would he be in violation of the ToS?

Now, it was presented in a seemingly racially spiteful way...is that what you meant?

Out of curiosity, what percentage of New Orleans is black anyway?

Nevermind...about 66% according to one report I just googled.

You're right.

Sorry, I caused a derailment, I'd like to take this opportunity to go back in time and not make my previous post, which I have edited.

My most sincere thoughts to those who lost everything!
The south of Brazil is been hit by a tropical cyclone. The far south (I'm 2 states up) has been hit by a tornado yesterday, and now is suffering from winds of 60-70 mph (over 100 kmph).
As I type, the city is under severe showers and hail storm, and the wind is blowing strong. The sky is completely dark. I'm scared, I've never seen anything like it here!
Authorities says there's nothing to worry about, but I doubt it, the weather is unpredictable these days!
Two days ago it was hella hot, and we're on WINTER!!!! Then all of a sudden this.
I can only imagine what the southern states of the good old US of A have suffered!
The weird thing is, there was nothing on the weather report, only rain, and cold weather!

Best of luck for us all...

That was a chunk of nation. Here we are talking a single city. But...to further my point. You guys saw the issues and did it. You expended the $$$. We could of....in fact, part of our problem is that such construction takes 10-20 years to go thru the "environmental impact" approval. We probably spend $500 million just to determine that aspect.

Acquisition of food, water, batteries, shovels, rope, floatables, etc. from business/commercial retail venues is IMHO justified (and most everything is a tax/FEMA write-off already, very little of it can be legally sold at this point due to health reasons).

Looting - is the taking of cash from ATMs, TV's, electronics, personables (jewelry, silverware, etc.) or the taking of possessions from "homes" is to me looting.

I am a bit more wishy-washy regarding one photo. A man with a bucketfull of stolen beers. Um...part of me calls that looting. And then part of me says if I just lost everything would I not want to get drunk off my arse? So I bend on that...now if he tried selling it, etc. Then definitely looting.

SCUDS....hang in there, be safe...if it gets really bad - stay away from windows. Also, try to find a wool blanket. In case of flooding wool will still keep your warm even wet.

You are talking about a chunk of a nation whether you know about it or not. The levee system is far more extensive then just the city prpoer and there is much more of it damaged then what you are seeing on Fox and MSNBC.

Why all the news is being concentraed on just New Orleans and Biloxi I guess is because that is what people want to see. The entire coatline of most of Alabama and Louisiana and all of Mississippi have been wiped clean. In the places I went yesterday there were no news cameras, no National Guaurd, no organized relief effort, no food, gasoline, fresh water, electricity.

I saw people sitting on boxes and ice chests gathered in the streets in front of what used to be thier homes. That's where they would sleep that night, and the next...

For any of you who say, "well why didn't they evacuate?" I say perhaps you have never had to. Where do you evacuate to? This is not such a friendly nation that the people will just accept refugees into thier homes. Unless a person has relatives that are less then a days drive from the evacuation point it is a very hard thing to do.

Very much agreed with nsbca on this, many people had no where to evacuate too. Others sit crowded in the Superdome as it begins to rott inside.

And I was not aware of the extent, yes, most of the focus is on the cities and populated areas and areas of reknown...that's sadly how it often is right or wrong.

I really wish some cruise ships could be brought to hand. I also think of old Navy ships, I wonder if any could be used as temperary housing.
